A huge thank you to everyone for your patience while we’ve worked behind the scenes to confirm the details for what is shaping up to be a BIG day in the water.

We’re asking everyone to please arrive at 9am so we have plenty of time for parking, registration, set-up and a thorough briefing before we get underway.

🤿 Bring your own gear
Whether you’re joining us on scuba or snorkelling, you’ll need to bring your own equipment.

👜 Catch bags
If you own a catch bag, please bring it along. If you don’t, get creative! Mesh swimming bags, fin bags or anything suitable for safely carrying seastars underwater can be used.

🧤 Gloves are ESSENTIAL
Gloves are a must for anyone handling NPS.

💰 $20 casual attendance fee — WAIVED!
Thanks to the generous sponsorship from Aquatic Adventures , the usual $20 casual fee for non-members will be waived for this event.

🚗 PARKING
Parking at Mentone LSC is limited, so please plan ahead. If you need to park in surrounding side streets, take care to follow all parking signs and restrictions and be respectful of local residents.

This is shaping up to be a fantastic rapid response effort, and we’re looking forward to getting a big crew in the water to tackle this invasive species together.

Another successful IDC completed here in Melbourne! Congratulations again to all 5 candidates who put in a huge effort to achieve this milestone in their diving careers - it was a pleasure teaching you, and I look forward to working with you all as part of the Victorian scuba industry!

I was thrilled today to discover that I have once again been awarded Silver Course Director status by PADI :)

This rating is given as recognition of the amount of successful Professional level certifications a Course Director has achieved in the previous year, and although I still have Gold and Platinum status to work towards, achieving Silver on consecutive years in a temperate-water market is something I am very proud of.

Also considering this is based upon my work in 2020, which we all know was a very difficult year for everyone regardless of their industry, I am particularly proud to have maintained this status, and to have been able to help so many people take their first steps as PADI Professionals.

2020 was a tough year for the Scuba Diving industry the world over, but that didn't stop passionate PADI Professionals from getting out there and teaching wherever and whenever they could.

Thanks to PADI for the recognition again (8 years in a row), but bigger thanks to all the other dive industry professionals who continue to allow me to pursue a dream job, and work in an industry i'm passionate about - here's to keeping the streak going in 2021 :)
