That sore wrist or elbow might not be the whole story 👀

Pain may be felt in one spot but the way your neck upper back shoulder and arm share load can all influence what is happening further down the chain

Common contributors can include

🔹 Repetitive gripping typing or lifting
🔹 Poor load sharing through the shoulder and upper back
🔹 Reduced forearm strength or endurance
🔹 Neck or upper back stiffness
🔹 A sudden increase in work training or activity

Getting lasting improvement often means looking beyond the sore spot

A whole-arm approach may include building strength and endurance improving movement and addressing the habits or load patterns contributing to the problem

If your pain keeps returning is lingering longer than expected or is beginning to affect work exercise or everyday activities it is worth getting on top of it early

Book with our team at Hampton or Beaumaris to have the whole movement chain assessed 💙

This one belongs to the whole team 🩵🩵🩵

Sports & Spinal Group Hampton has been named a finalist in the 2026 South East Melbourne Local Business Awards for Outstanding Health Improvement Services and we couldn’t be prouder.

A clinic is never built by one person. It’s built by the practitioners who care deeply, the team behind the scenes who somehow keep everything moving, and the people who show up each day wanting to make a genuine difference.

To every member of our SSG team thank you 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵

Thank you for the care you give our patients, the way you support one another, the extra things you do when nobody is watching, and the heart you bring into our clinic every single day.

And to our beautiful patients and local community, thank you for trusting us with your health, your families and your stories. We never take that trust for granted.

This nomination may have the Sports & Spinal Group name on it, but it represents every person who has helped shape what our clinic has become.

So proud of you all. What a team 🩵🩵
With love
Brett & Jel

Meet Dr Sally Fairbairn 🦷✨

Sally brings a biological and holistic approach to dentistry, looking beyond the teeth to understand how the mouth connects with breathing, sleep, growth and whole-body health.

As part of our Craniodental team, Sally works alongside our osteopaths to look at the bigger picture, bringing together the teeth, jaw, tongue, airway, cranial structures, posture and nervous system.

Her calm, thoughtful approach fits beautifully with what our Craniodental service is all about: seeing the whole child, understanding what their body is telling us, and supporting their development as gently and thoughtfully as possible.

We’re so excited to have her as part of the team 🩵🦷

⚡ That shooting pain down your leg? It might be sciatica.

Sciatica can show up as pain, tingling, burning or numbness travelling from your lower back or buttock and down the leg…and when it flares, it can make even the simple stuff uncomfortable.

The good news? The right movement can help.

Piriformis stretches, gentle nerve flossing and glute strengthening may help reduce irritation, improve movement and get you feeling more like yourself again.

🎥 We’ve put together a video showing you what to do and how to do it.

Watch it here 👇

And if your sciatica keeps hanging around, book in with the Sports & Spinal Group team so we can work out what’s driving it and help you get moving again.

A Bayside mum of three who runs paediatric osteopath practices in Hampton and Beaumaris while raising her kids, building an app and writing her first book, has been named as a finalist for an AusMumpreneur Award. Dr Jelena Blajer of Happy Hearts and Sports and Spinal Group has been named in the Top 100 and Digital Innovation of the Year award. “Nobody tells you that building a business and raising a family both ask for the same thing and that’s presence," Dr Blajer said. "To any woman starting her own thing, choose your hard on purpose, because you are capable of more than you have been told and your kids are watching you build it," she said. The AusMumpreneur award winners will be crowned at its conference in September.

If you've been sitting at your desk for hours, your body is craving movement.

Prolonged sitting can leave your mid-back feeling stiff, reduce your spinal mobility, and even affect the way you breathe.

The good news? Just a few minutes of movement can make a big difference.

Try these two simple exercises:
✅ Thoracic Mobility & Breathing Drill
✅ World's Greatest Stretch

Together, they can help:
• Improve spinal mobility
• Open your chest and encourage deeper breathing
• Reduce tension from prolonged sitting
• Leave you feeling more energised and ready to move

Your body was designed to move not stay in one position all day.

Save this post to use during your next work break and let us know how you feel afterwards! 🙌
