You know exactly what came in last month.

You have no idea where it went.

That is not a memory problem. It is not a discipline problem. It is a visibility problem, and almost every service business owner I have worked with in twenty two years has it.

Cash does not disappear. It sits somewhere you are not looking. In an invoice that was due eleven days ago. In a supplier payment that cleared on Tuesday while you were not watching. In the gap between what you earned in May and what actually landed in the account in June.

I have built the diagnostic into five questions. Run them in order. In that order, they tell a story.

The story is usually the same one. The cash was there. There was no system showing you where to look.

Slides have the five questions. Open them, write the answers down, and see what you have actually been running on.

When Your Revenue Doubles. But So Does Your Stress.

I have watched this happen more times than I can count. Twenty two years running PSM. Six years building The O8 with Steph. Same pattern, different business name.

The owner lands the bigger client. The one that was supposed to fix it.

Revenue goes up. The bank app still gets refreshed at 11pm on a Sunday.

Here is what no one tells you. Revenue without a cash system just moves more money through a broken structure faster. That is the whole mechanic.

If the structure leaks at $400K, it leaks harder at $800K. The leak does not care how much you pour in.

I have sat with owners doing $1.2M who could not pay themselves properly. P&L showed profit. Bank account showed panic. Both were telling the truth.

The profit was real. The cash was somewhere else. Tied up in receivables forty five days out. In supplier terms that never got renegotiated. In a tax bill no one set aside for. In a wage run that landed three days before the big client paid.

Chasing more revenue when you do not have a system is not a strategy. It is a faster treadmill.

The answer is different, not more.

If you are making good money and still cannot feel it in the bank, that is not a you problem. It is a structural one. And structural problems are fixable.

Your P&L says you're profitable, yet you're one of the forty five percent of operators who skipped their own pay this week.

I have watched this play out hundreds of times across twenty two years of running service businesses.

You build the team. You sign the clients. You watch the revenue climb. And the cash is still never where it should be when you log into the bank app at midnight.

That is not a minor operational gap. That is the exact reason you are making major decisions on gut feel and holding your breath every payday.

A U.S. Bank study found eighty two percent of business failures are directly linked to poor cash flow management.

Yet most operators only look at the numbers after a crisis hits. They wait for the tax bill to land. They wait for the accountant to send a report sixty days after the quarter has already closed.

By then the decisions have been made, the money is gone, and you are reacting to history.

This problem fixes itself zero times without an actual system in place.

You do not need to work harder. You do not need another business coach. You need a system that tells you where every dollar is going before it leaves your hands.

A room of operators would name your problem in ten minutes.

Alone, you circle it for months.

That is not a thinking problem. It is an access problem.

The decisions you make at 11pm on a Sunday, with no one to test them against, are slower and more expensive than the same decisions made out loud in the right room. You find out what you missed when it is already costing you. In cash. In time. In a deal that went the wrong way.

I have been running PSM for twenty two years. I still do not solve the hard ones alone. Steph and I do the thinking together, because two operators in a room beat one operator at a desk every time.

You are running a real business with the support infrastructure of a sole trader. That is the gap.

The weight you are carrying is not a personal failing. It is a structural one. And structural problems are fixable.

We fix this at The O8.

Your P&L said you made money last month. Your bank account disagrees.

Both are telling the truth. That is the part nobody explains.

Profit on paper and cash in the bank are two different things. The P&L tells you what happened last month. It does not tell you what you can spend on Thursday.

Twenty two years running PSM and I have watched this play out the same way every time. A strong revenue month ends with payroll anxiety. A big invoice lands and disappears inside a week. The numbers look good. The Monday morning bank check still feels like dread.

More revenue does not close that gap. It widens it.

More money moving through a business with no system just means more money disappearing faster. The owners who stop the Sunday night panic are not the ones who landed a bigger client. They are the ones who built a system that tells them where every dollar is before they need to know.

The revenue was never the problem. The system was always missing.

If this is you, The Money Play is where we fix it.

Your P&L shows forty thousand dollars in profit. Your bank account is empty. Both numbers are completely correct.

I spent twenty two years running a field service business. This timing gap breaks otherwise healthy companies every week.

Here is what is actually happening.

Your P&L records revenue the moment you send the invoice. Your bank records cash the moment the client actually pays. Those two events rarely happen in the same week. Sometimes not even the same month.

You invoiced forty thousand in May. You collected eighteen. Your accountant sees a great month on paper. You see a payroll crisis on Friday.

They file what already happened. Nobody is watching the gap between what you earned and what you can spend today.

That gap is where service businesses quietly bleed out.

The slides break down exactly how the mismatch works, and how to fix it.

Most service business owners I work with have a qualified accountant. Almost none of them know what to do with their cash this week.

I have watched this play out hundreds of times over twenty two years running PSM.

Owners doing two hundred thousand to three million in revenue assume that having an accountant means their cash is being managed. That someone qualified is watching the numbers and will flag a problem before it becomes a crisis.

Your accountant is reporting on what already happened. They make sure the tax return is accurate and the BAS is lodged. Exactly what you hired them to do.

Nobody is looking at what is coming due next Tuesday. Nobody is checking whether the receivables will clear before payroll. Nobody is telling you what the cash position looks like in three weeks.

Reporting on the past is one role. Directing your weekly cash is another. In most service businesses, the weekly cash role has been sitting vacant for years.

Separate the two and the constant anxiety stops. You stop waiting for your accountant to tell you something is wrong and start operating with a clear forward view of your own numbers.

The decisions that used to feel like late-night guesses become answerable. Can you hire. Can you take that contract. Can you pay yourself this month.

We build the forward-looking cash systems that answer those questions.

Your accountant says you're profitable. Your bank account says otherwise.

Both are correct.

Twenty two years inside a service business taught me this the hard way. A P&L can confirm a solid month while $18K of that month is still sitting unpaid in someone else's accounts. Payroll is Thursday. The report does not care.

This is not a mistake in your books. It is how accrual accounting works. Profit is a promise. Cash is what actually pays the supplier.

Two in three business owners our size carry this anxiety every week. Most think it is a personal failing.

It is not. It is a structural gap with a name.

We call it the Profit Visibility Gap. And closing it for good is exactly what The MONEY Play is built for.

Running a service business out of one bank account is business malpractice.

I have watched owners pull eighty thousand dollars in a month and still panic when they open the banking app on Monday morning. One big ball of money does that to you.

Every dollar lives in the same account. So you are trying to pay tax, cover rent, clear payroll, and take home a profit from the exact same pile of cash.

One balance. Four different questions. That is not managing cash. That is triaging it.

The slides show the multi-account system we build to replace the single-account trap.

Your bank balance is lying to you.

Not because the number is wrong. Because the number is not the story.

I have watched service business owners pull a great month, look at the balance on a Tuesday afternoon, and still feel sick. Profitable on paper. Panicked in practice.

That gap is not a maths problem. It is a money story problem.

The Big Ball Trap. Personal and business money sloshing around in the same account, so every decision feels like a personal risk. You cannot think strategically when every transfer feels like it is coming out of your own pocket.

The Upper Limit Problem. You hit a number that feels unfamiliar and your brain quietly sabotages the next move. The ceiling is not the market. It is the salary you used to earn, or the household you grew up in.

Money does not change who you are. It just shows you the parts you have not dealt with yet.

You can build a cash system on top of that and it will hold. You cannot out-spreadsheet it.

Stop hiding your real money story.
