etition. What level of fitness is required? The Beginners Class is not high energy and there is always a half-time break so most people manage without any problem. Dancing will of course, improve your fitness. What happens in Beginner's Class? We cover both Latin and Ballroom each week so you get a balance of each style. We’ll do revision from the previous week’s lesson, plus an additional step in that dance or an alternative dance will be introduced, which keeps your knowledge and experience growing. Do I have to change partners during the class? We recommend this so you have the best learning experience possible. If you have come with a partner you will have plenty of opportunity to dance with them. Do I need dance shoes? No, but they do help. We can suggest the best type of shoes for you after you've started lessons. Please wear shoes with a smooth sole. I am not Gay or Lesbian, can I come along? Absolutely! Everyone’s welcome but it’s adults only and you do need to be open to dancing with partners of both sexes, as some men follow and some women will lead. There’s no rules with leading and following and some students are ‘ambidancetrous’ and can do both! How many, and which dances are taught? Tuesdays - this totally depends upon the pace of the participants, but suffice to say we'll get through at least 3 dances, during each class. Dances included are: Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Salsa, Jive/Rock n Roll and Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango with party dances ‘progressives’ done in a circle which are easy to learn, for some fun.
