Stay tuned!
Such a privilege to have Sunny Wong visiting Melbourne from Hong Kong and leading our Cantonese therapeutic songwriting group yesterday! 🎶
A group of Cantonese-speaking RMTs, MTSs and OTs came together to learn, discuss, and practise some really hands-on Cantonese songwriting skills. We’re all feeling inspired and ready to bring these ideas into our therapy sessions to support clients with different needs. 💛
Thank you, Sunny, for sharing your knowledge and experience with us, and thank you to everyone who joined! It was such a wonderful Saturday evening — including, of course, the Cantonese dinner afterwards! 😆🥢
Stay tuned! We’re hoping to organise more Cantonese songwriting and professional support activities soon. 🎵

—— Sunny Wong
A heartfelt thank you to Sunny Wong for generously sharing his expertise with a group of Cantonese-speaking clinicians tonight on Cantonese Therapeutic Songwriting as part of our monthly Bilingual RMT Peer Supervision Group.
”So glad to share my research and practice insights with you all. I hope it starts more conversations about the uniqueness of Cantonese and Cantonese therapeutic songwriting in our profession.“
— Sunny Wong
Cantonese is a unique, rich and expressive language. We also know that supporting clients to communicate, express themselves, and process their experiences in their mother tongue can have profound clinical benefits.
As Sunny said, this is only the beginning.
We hope tonight‘s workshop will support clinicians who are already incorporating Cantonese therapeutic songwriting into their practice, encourage those who have been hesitant to give it a try, and inspire even more therapists to explore this valuable clinical skill.
If you have any questions about Cantonese therapeutic songwriting in a clinical or therapeutic context, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Sunny.
Here‘s to many more conversations, collaborations, and songs in Cantonese. 🎵❤️
