The 2026 Newcastle Knights Hunter Premiership for the Maitland & Newcastle region took place today at Maitland Regional Sportsground with 4 great games of Rugby League.

The U/14s Schoolboy Trophy kicked off the event with Francis Greenway High School proving to be too strong for St Bede's Catholic College, Chisholm going out winners 22 - 8.

The U/14s Schoolgirl Trophy required an extra 6 minutes of golden point extra time with Lambton High School scoring the winner to make it 32 - 28 over Hunter River High School.

The U/16s Schoolboy Trophy was a tough battle between 2 great sides with Rutherford Technology High School proving to be too strong winning 18 - 6.

The final game of the day was the U/16s Schoolgirl Trophy with Trinity Catholic College, Adamstown coming out on top 24 - 10 against a very brave & committed Warners Bay High School team.

A big thank you to Maitland City Council for allowing us to use this amazing facility & to the Maitland Pickers Rugby League Club for hosting & opening up a canteen on the day for everyone in attendance.

We look forward to doing it all again in 2027.

What an incredible day at McDonald Jones Stadium for our HJRL U7s Game Day Experience!

In partnership with the Newcastle Knights, Hunter Junior Rugby League, New South Wales Rugby League, we were excited to bring this amazing event back for another year πŸ™Œ

The day rolls off the back of the TackleReady Program! All under 7s completed the 6 session program which covers the fundaments of tackling and being tackled!

Our future footy stars had the chance to run out onto the big stage, play on the stadium field and create memories they’ll never forget alongside their teammates, coaches and families πŸŸοΈπŸ’™β€οΈ

A huge thank you to the Newcastle Knights for hosting the day, and for their continued support in helping deliver such a fantastic experience for our young players πŸ‘β

Another Shout Out to the Newcastle Knights Women's Premiership Side that dropped in and cheered the Under 7s on!

The smiles said it all! πŸ˜„
