Finally as ready as we can be for 2 nights racing for weekend 1 of Thunder in the Canefields at the Walsh's Auto Cairns Speedway.

Its been a hectic and exhausting month to say the least but its great to finally be ready to load up. Ryan is super excited for a drive, hopefully all goes well and we get a bit longer out of this one 🤞

Thanks to those who support us in our racing and the new build.

Only just under a week until race day! Ryan is keener than ever before to get some laps in. Been a big effort with every bit of the work done in house by Dan and Ryan but we are happy to be back in such a short time frame.

Huge thanks to those who help keep us on track.

We were super sad to say goodbye to the lancer...alot of time, funds and effort goes into building speedway cars and sadly the car wasn't repairable.. but Dan and Ryan hit the ground running.

Thankfully we aren't scared of hard work and have been doing this a very long time and know how to get one together and Ryan is getting a good idea too being very hands on with this build.. 3 weeks on the dot juggling work and life, and Ryans new car is almost ready to go. A few minor things left then its ready for its first run at Thunder in the Canefields at Cairns Speedway in 2 weeks time.

Huge shoutout to Joel @ Down Under Graphics for the quick turn around on getting the wrap printed and sent up for Dan to fit to the car.

Bertuch Racing for making a set of panels at short notice

And anyone else who helped with parts or equipment to get the car done, thankyou!. We reckon the satin grey/fluro orange looks awesome...

And to all our sponsors

Unfortunately it just wasn't the final weekend we had hoped for Yesterday in the Junior Sedan ProCoat Epoxy Flooring series :( Ryan did everything right on a challenging track for the early arvo start to fit in 2 nights of racing due to the weather, driving to the conditions and trying to avoid damage after the massive efforts from the Cairns Speedway track crew to turn an absolute swamp into a great racing surface by the end of the night which put on some spectacular racing in the Modified Sedans Northern Nationals.
Sadly he didnt go any further than heat 2 making a pass around the top side when another car had a lose and ended up in the side and untimately sent Ryan straight into the fence despite Ryan making the right adjustments and getting onto the brake like he should to give room.

The saddest part is this once immaculate and not long newly built Lancer is now a write off and will need a reshell before Ryan can get back behind the wheel... this sport is such a roller-coaster of highs and lows and to see your child who has been doing so well upset over something they had no control over gets the emotions going.. thankfully Ryan was okay, a little sore today but more upset his first lancer was unloaded today for the last time.

With a bit of luck Ryan can be back on track asap - sponsorship opportunities are certainly available.

Thankyou to everyone who took the time to check in on Ryan and give their support, Macca off the Mic , Cairns Speedway and the infield crew, ProCoat Epoxy Flooring for sponsoring the series, Pirtek Cairns and anyone else who makes these meetings possible.

One day until Ryno saddles up again to go racing for the last 2 nights of the Modified Sedan Northen Nationals at Cairns Speedway... car is just about ready to load up again and I dont think we have ever seen him more keen to race... its been a huge and exhausting week getting the car straight and tidy again after last weekends mixed bag results but its all worth it when every time he gets on track he blows us away with his improvements.

Weekend recap - tough nite at the office.
After showing some great pace and driving extremely well Friday night picking up a 4th, DNF (cut tyre) and a 2nd Place in the heats with a stacked field of 10 cars, we returned last night in the hopes to back it up...

Sadly it didnt go that way, first heat Ryno was confident starting out of P6 but seemingly to be a re-occuring trend was pushed out of the way in turn 1&2 and lost alot of ground at the same time but drove the rest of the race clean and tidy.

2nd heat starting off the back row of 10 cars, was absolutely hauling through turn 3&4 slowly picking cars off, stuck it up high where he had been running all weekend to set up a pass down the main straight but one car made a lane change to make a pass on another car and didnt know Ryan was already up top, Ryan having no where to go ended up with a car across his nose and taken up into the fence into the trendy 'no parking zone' perched on the fence tearing the rf corner out and also breaking a section out of his brake rotor where he was hard on the brake pedal- (sadly brakes dont work great on dirt 😬)..luckily just shy of going on its lid- thankfully both kids weren't hurt. Ryan was pretty upset but composed himself and wanted the car fixed to get back out on track. Luckily we have some good people around us in the juniors camp who leant us parts we didnt have and gave us a hand getting the front end fixed enough to race again and we sent Ryan out for the feature where he drove well, was making great ground but drove cautious like we asked of him to finish in p8 where he had qualified for the weekend after the 2 DNF's and drove it onto the trailer. Was a great feature to watch, and only .4 of a second difference in fastest lap times across the Top Star class in the feature... showing it is going to be a tough and very competitive year ahead for everyone.

Thankyou for everyone who came to check on Ryan, offered to help and commended him on getting back in the seat and driving like it never happened....anyone who knows the kid he used to be when he started never would have jumped back in the seat the next race.. but times have changed and the lad is hungry to give it a good crack this year, and do it cleanly ;)

Congrats to all the juniors who drove clean all weekend, and also to the lads who made the podium. Thanks to Squid for looking after the young fella on the infield after his scare, we always know he is in the best hands with our infield crew 👌

Fair bit more damage to fix this week that we have found this morning so really hoping we can get it fixed before Friday night to continue the ProCoat Epoxy Flooring Junior Series in support of the Modified Sedans Northern Nationals.
