For the first time, a paramedic responded to a real 911 emergency by eVTOL aircraft, and in doing so beat an ambulance to the scene by 20 minutes.
Flight-trained Hyde County paramedic Quinn Reece flew a Pivotal aircraft directly to two 911 calls, carrying advanced life support equipment and landing near the patients. On one mission, she arrived approximately 20 minutes before the ground ambulance and began treatment while other crews were still en route.
The live operations followed months of preparation and more than 300 training sorties to develop procedures for integrating eVTOL aircraft into EMS. Hyde County Emergency Medical Services, Code Blue Resources, and Pivotal Aero say the project demonstrates how small, runway-independent aircraft could shorten the critical time between a 911 call and advanced medical care in large, rural areas such as Hyde County, which encompasses nearly 1,500 square miles in North Carolina.

WINGS OVER MARY - Father's Day, September 5-6
MARYBOROUGH Airport will roar to life this Father’s Day as the Maryborough Military Aviation Museum hosts Wings Over Mary, a two day celebration of heritage aircraft, classic machinery and hands on aviation experiences from 5–6 September 2026
The event forms part of a major weekend collaboration, joining the Wide Bay Historical Machinery Group’s annual rally and a fly in hosted by the Maryborough Aero Club.
Together, they’ll transform the airport precinct into a lively showcase of engines, aircraft, vehicles and working displays designed to appeal to families, aviation buffs and history lovers alike.
For dads chasing a true bucket list moment, Brisbane Bi Planes will offer adventure flights in their vintage fleet, including the iconic Tiger Moth.
Bookings are essential via brisbanebiplanes.com.au or [email protected]
Great Ocean Helicopters will also be on site with scenic joy flights, with bookings available at greatoceanhelicopters.com.au or [email protected]
Several vintage aircraft are expected to attend, weather permitting, adding to a packed program that includes a fly in breakfast for visiting aviators, an aerobatic display, restored military vehicles, working historic engines, a morse key exhibit and the chance to climb inside restored aircraft.
Visitors can also test their skills on an aircraft simulator, making it an ideal outing for children, fathers and grandfathers to share.
Food and drinks will be provided by local community groups throughout the weekend.
The event also marks a milestone for the Maryborough Military Aviation Museum, which celebrates ten years of preserving the stories of RAAF Station Maryborough and the men and women who served there during World War II.
The museum continues to grow as a living record of local aviation history and a place of remembrance and inspiration.
Wings Over Mary runs Saturday 5th September 9am–4pm and Sunday 6th September 9am–12pm.

My father was a "If you got yourself up there, you can get yourself down" type of guy.

🚨 SAVE THE CABOOLTURE WARPLANE MUSEUM! 🚨
For over 30 years, the Caboolture Warplane & Flight Heritage Museum has been a proudly volunteer-run treasure — sharing Australia’s aviation history through warbird displays, adventure flights, and hands-on experiences that inspire thousands every year.
Now, this beloved community icon is at risk of losing its home.
🏠 The museum’s hangar at Caboolture Airfield was recently sold, and a lease extension only runs until March 2026.
Without urgent help, the museum could be forced to close its doors forever.
✈️ The Caboolture Warplane Museum is one of Queensland’s unique cultural landmarks built by volunteers, sustained by passion, and loved by locals and visitors alike.
🖊️ There is a petition if you agree the Caboolture Warplane & Flight Heritage Museum should be saved:

NEW AUTOMATIC DEFIBRILLATOR TO BE INSTALLED
Our (currently slightly damaged) President has been able to aquire a fully automatic defibrillator at a discounted cost, and received Fraser Coast Regional Council funding for it.
Many thanks to Cr Paul Truscott for making our funding request possible, and to Crs Michelle Govers, Daniel Sanderson, Phil Truscott and Lachlan Cosgrove for providing some of their descretionary funds to help him pay for the unit.
This AED will provide peace of mind for members and visiting pilots/guests, and will be installed in our Club Rooms prior to the AGM in November.
