✨It was a very wet, cold, and muddy course at the Australian Athletics Cross Country Championships in Ballarat✨

So muddy that some of our runners had taped their shoes around their feet to ensure they didn’t get sucked away by the mud!

What an amazing night for Ryde Athletics at the 2025/26 Ryde Sports Foundation Sports Stars of the Year Awards.

Not only were we thrilled to have had two of our athletes, Tim Forster (hurdles) and Gavin Murray (Throws) selected as two of the twelve finalists, both Tim and Gavin came away with additional awards on the night!

Gavin was awarded the 2025/26 Sports Star of the Year award, only the fourth time a Ryde Athlete has won the major award of the night. Gavin was recognised for the two World Indoor Masters titles he won in 2025 as well as numerous Australian and NSW Championship titles across discus, shot put, hammer throw, weight throw and throws pentathlons.

Tim was the co-winner of the Club 6 Encouragement Award. A long-time member of Ryde Athletics and grandson of Ross Forster, Tim’s most recent achievements include winning the 2026 Australian Open 60m hurdles and being selected as a member of the Australian U23 team who travelled to Chinese Taipei.

A huge thank you to the wonderful Ryde Sports Foundation ( Rob W, Kim C, Robyn C, Deb H, Anthony S , Jock C , Jim H & Paul M) for the amazing work that they do in promoting and supporting all forms of sport in the Ryde area. Thank you also to Club Six – Ryde Eastwood Leagues, Gladesville RSL, Gladesville Sporties, Club Ryde Ex, North Ryde RSL & North Ryde Golf Club for their ongoing support of the Foundation and to the business sponsors, The Weekly Times, Mitronics, Bendigo Bank, One Point Health & Sydney Sports Management Group.

✨Age group caps✨

Ryde Athletics has a limit of how many athletes per age group can register at the start of each season.

This is done to ensure that all age groups can have fair track/field time, to lessen waiting during competition mornings, and to be manageable for our volunteer age managers.

When an age group reaches capacity, prospective athletes can list their details on our wait list (link in bio)

9 boys (born 2018) has already reached capacity

8 girls (born 2019) & 11 boys (born 2016) are close to reaching capacity

We encourage athletes to register early to avoid disappointment.
