It takes an immense amount of volunteer effort to get a game of football on the field each week and we thank you all.

The Colts delivered a high-quality, physical first half, playing the game on their terms and producing one of the dayโs most entertaining contests. With both teams featuring some of the associationโs best young footballers, every contest was fiercely fought and the standard was outstanding.
Neither backline gave much away, but any small lapse was quickly punished. The game remained tightly balanced, with the result likely to come down to which side could make the most of its opportunities.
Southerners lifted in the third quarter, with several of their key players beginning to find space and threaten to open the game up. However, our boys refused to let the contest slip. Their persistence, combined with some inaccuracy from Southerners in front of goal, kept DFC within striking distance at three-quarter time.
The final quarter lived up to its promise. Both sides produced courageous, skilful football under enormous pressure, turning the match into a genuine arm wrestle as the crowd watched every contest unfold.
Sadly, Southerners found the breakthrough late, kicking two quick goals to create enough separation and secure the premiership.
After the game, Dozza said his only disappointment was that the players had not been rewarded with the win. He spoke with enormous pride about the group and gratitude for their efforts over the past three years, while reflecting on how much he had enjoyed coaching them.
Dozza, together with his assistants and helpers, has guided this group with professionalism and commitment, achieving so much throughout their three-year journey.

The Grand Final rematch against Bridgetown gave DFC the chance to respond after the second semi-final, and the opening half showed just how determined both sides were to claim the premiership.
The contest was tough, tight and highly physical, with neither team able to establish a clear advantage. Scoring opportunities were limited as both backlines stood firm, while the pressure around the ground made every possession difficult to win.
At half-time, the match remained firmly in the balance. The players had one final half of football for 2026 to find a way through, and both teams returned to the field knowing that the next passage of play could prove decisive.
Bridgetown made the stronger start after the break, finding early scoring opportunities and gaining control of the momentum. DFC fought to stem the flow, but Bridgetown continued to build its advantage, creating a margin that ultimately proved too difficult to overcome.
The result was understandably disappointing, but both coaches were quick to acknowledge the commitment of the playing group. With the team changing regularly from week to week, the players continued to show up, compete and give a genuine effort every time they took the field.
Well done to all the players, You should be proud of the way you continued to compete throughout the season.

While the results on Grand Final day werenโt what we all hoped for, there is plenty to be proud of across the Deanmill Football Club.
To every player who pulled on the maroon and gold, every coach who gave up countless hours, every volunteer who helped behind the scenes, every sponsor who supported the club, every supporter who cheered from the sidelines and everyone who contributed in any way throughout 2026 โ thank you.
Football clubs donโt happen without people, and DFC is very fortunate to have so many people willing to give their time and support.
