Our last day of winter social bowls saw 24 players enjoying some frivolity and vitamin D.
No need for soup today, instead players enjoyed ham and cheese toasties and a curried sausage casserole, followed by some sweets made by Cathy and Cookie (Vicki).
All that sunshine must have made players thirsty as a couple trips were made to the local to restock.
Have to thank organisers, Andrew, Teresa, Peter and Maurice for their tireless work and dedication each week, greenkeeper and helpers for preparing the greens, Nancy for her soups, Andrew for the roast meats, Teresa, Vicki, Cathy, Sidie and Andrew for desserts, Peter for recording results and organising teams (selecting is a thankless job), Jim B for putting up and bringing in flags each week, Lindsay for putting out and packing up mats, jacks and windsock each week and anyone else who has volunteered in any way, be it an hour, a day or more. BUT the biggest thanks goes to each and everyone of you who have attended every week, without you guys these days don't exist so thank you all very much we shall see you all out on the green for the more serious side of bowls over the next 6 months. Winter bowls for 2027 should start up again in or around April (usually).

Tomorrow WTP starts with 4 out of 8 teams playing at MBC so if you not doing anything why not come on down, enjoy some sunshine and watch some bowls.

MND fund-raiser day at MBC
Sunday 20th September 2026

I would like to thank the Mallala Bowls Club for all their work in making Sundays MND fund-raiser a great success. It was an amazing day with so much support. I think everyone who came along had a good day. There was lots of laughter and banter just how Arge lived his life.
The bowls club did a fantastic job in organising this day and collecting together some great items for our auctions and raffle prizes.
The lions,as always, got behind it with providing a great lunch, I dont think anyone went home hungry, that's for sure.
It was a great day to put together, $25 000 towards the fundraising we have been doing in memory of
Craig "Arge" Argent.
I believe in total now with the football club big freeze earlier in the year, sale of merchandise and memorial do actions we have together as a community raised around $50 000. I am as I know Arge also was very pround to be part of this wonderful community who always come together for a cause. Thank you, Mallala Bowls Club, Mallala Lions, Mallala Hotel, Steamy Beans, Sharmans, and every single person who got behind Sundays fundraising.
Also, a special thank you to all the volunteers that make these days happen. From our family with so much appreciation.

Arges "MND" day.
Oh what a day.
$25000 raised.
The spirit of Arge lives on.
The sponsors generosity, combined with a joyous community spirit, has ensured another successful fund raiser for an incredibly worthwhile cause.

Social bowls saw 18 out today enjoying the sunshine and frivolity at MBC with a couple early birds testing their skills out on the drills set up. Lack of numbers due to probus and the Balaklava races on today the most likely causes.
Next week is our final Social bowls before the season begins.
Special shout out to Andrew for his brandy baskets which were enjoyed by all with plenty of positive feedback.

Tomorrow is Wednesday social bowls at MBC.

10am for 10:30am start, 2 games of 10 ends with lunch and raffles in-between games.

This is our 2nd to last week of social bowls so if you have wanted to attend but couldn't you have 2 weeks left.

Hot chips, pizza and ham & cheese toasties on the menu as well as Nancy's pumpkin soup served with crusty bread.

Dessert is brandy snap baskets with mixed berries, icecream and or whipped cream. Plus any other surprise desserts that may be brought in by players/volunteers.

As per usual drills are also set up for anyone wanting to come early or test their skills.

Raffle prize donations gratefully accepted as well, perfect excuse to get rid of any unwanted Christmas gifts to make room for this year's gifts.

29 enjoyed the sun and fun yesterday at social bowls.

Tomato soup made by Nancy. Cottage pies made by Andrew.
Trifle made by Vicki. Carrot cake made by Nancy. Vanilla slice made by Teresa and Sidie.
Hot chips made their way around the green during play and were enjoyed by all, thanks to Andrew.

MBC social bowls will run for another 2 weeks as the 2026/2027 season fast approaching us.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported the club, they come far and wide, during our winter season. Thanks must also go to the organisers Andrew, Peter, Maurice and Teresa as well as green keeper (Peter) and everyone that has made and donated food, raffle prizes or simply time in the kitchen washing dishes.
