We’ve been practising somewhere a bit different this week… definitely nothing like Cruz is used to

Jury’s still out on whether he’s a fan

This track is a whole different beast though…

CRUZ WEEKEND UPDATE

Apparently qualifying was optional this weekend… Cruz’s engine decided starting was not on its agenda, so no qualifying meant straight to the back in 3 out of 4 heats.

Results

P33 -P22
P33 -P15
P33 - P13
P17 - P9

Not bad for a kid who basically started the weekend from the car park.

Those drives earned him P29 for the Final (out of 66 karts.)

Final time… P29 -P20 IN ONE LAP.

Then karting did what karting does. Caught in a racing incident, chain off, race over. DNF.

Frustrating? Absolutely.

But we’re not letting one DNF overshadow what was actually a bloody impressive weekend. Cruz started at the back three times and just kept sending it forward. No complaining, No giving up- just full send.

The Cruz we’re watching now compared to the start of this year is something else….Imagine where he’ll be this time next year.

We are definitely proud of our little torpedo.

WHY DO WE DO THIS?? Every karting parent, at least 17 times a weekend

This karting business is HARD WORK.

And if you’ve ever heard a karting parent standing in the pits staring into the distance asking, “Why the hell do we do this?”… Just know, we genuinely mean it.

Cruz rolled onto the grid in qualifying ready to go…… Engine wouldn’t start

So that was that. No qualifying. Back of the grid for the first three heats. Coming back from there is no small task, but Cruz just took it in his stride and kept his head in the game.

Meanwhile, over in Zac’s tent…

His kart decided to misbehave for most of the weekend. After spending a few hours on the straightening bench yesterday, it finally got back on track…only to decide today that turn 1 was far enough.

So Zac parked up and scored himself front row seats to watch the rest of his class race.

Add in on and off rain, severe weather warnings and the general financial and emotional abuse that is karting… Some people would call this weekend “character building.” But I think we would call it “get us the hell Out of here” 🤣

And apparently we’re not done yet…
