A Grand Final that had it all.

The Georges River Dropbears went into half-time 33–10 down against Penrith Emus, but the Bears weren’t done yet.

What followed was an incredible second-half fightback — 19 unanswered points as the boys dug deep, showed plenty of heart and refused to give in until the final whistle.

The comeback fell just short, but that second half showed exactly what this team is made of. The final
Score was 33/29.

A huge effort from the boys all season and a Grand Final performance they can be proud of.

The boots are (almost) dry, the bodies are recovering and another season of Drop Bears rugby is in the books…

Now it’s time to celebrate it. 🍻🏆

2026 has been a big year for Georges River.

🏉 A Grand Final appearance
🏉 Plenty of great rugby, questionable decisions and even better memories

On Saturday 5 September, we’re getting the whole Drop Bears family together to recognise the players who have represented our club, celebrate some outstanding individual performances and say thank you to everyone who made the season possible.

This Saturday, the Georges River Dropbears head to Wills Ground, Earlwood to take on Penrith Rugby Club in the McLean Cup Finals.

This is our 4th year in the competition — and incredibly, we’ve played finals rugby every single year and this year its the Grand Finals. That says plenty about the character, consistency and spirit of this club.

Now it’s time to get behind the boys again.

We want a big grey, black and red presence on the sideline. Bring the family, bring your mates, make some noise and help lift the Dropbears when it matters most.

With a convincing 31 -19 win over sydney harbour oyster, the GRR Dropbears will be playing in a Grand Final next Sat... stay tuned for details

Its game time, finals are here. Get down and support the boys as the run into the end of the season, bring family, bring friends and get amongst it for the fi also show down.
