The weather is predicted to be a cracking weekend โ˜€๏ธ so pack your hats and sunscreen for a great time under the Outback sun.

The Outback Rowing community has been getting involved in the Gotcha4Life Foundation challenge, with people doing their part of the challenge from all different locations and landscapes.

The starting passion for Outback Rowing was the opportunity to bring the community and wellbeing that comes with rowing to the outback. Studies have found that regional Australians face higher rates of su***de, greater rates of severe psychological distress, and significantly reduced access to professional mental health care compared to people living in major metropolitan cities. This is a devastating consequence that families live with everyday.

Getting out on the water with like-minded mates, catching up for a post row coffee or beer, or sharing your ergo results with your crew over WhatsApp are all opportunities that we support and develop a strong sense of community and belonging as part of Outback Rowing.

Based out of Somerville House rowing sheds in Brisbane, these ladies come together 2-4 times a week to get out on the water - either in singles, doubles, quads or 8โ€™s. Theyโ€™ll also enjoy a few gym sessions through out the week.

An after row coffee is obligatory, enjoyed at the much loved โ€œred busโ€, Baladi, where all the women come together for a catch-up. โ˜•๏ธ The River City Rowing club has women who compete in local events, state events and even international regattas! Are you a rower and interested in joining the womenโ€™s only club? Comment below and we will send you the details๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ We canโ€™t wait to see them in action at this yearโ€™s Outback Rowing Regatta ๐Ÿ’ฅ

3 DAYS LEFT TO REGISTER ๐Ÿ’ฅ Weโ€™re looking forward to the country crews bringing the heat at this yearโ€™s Mort & Co Australian Outback Rowing Regatta on 3rd & 4th October.

While sunrise on the river can be pretty incredible, itโ€™s hard to beat the outback scenery on the ergo. We love that no matter where you are located in the world, people are still finding ways (and backdrops!) to find time to exercise and look after their own wellbeing. It might be in the gym, in your garage or better yet, surrounded by the beauty of nature on your farm.

The power of even 10 mins of regular exercise can have incredible knock-on effects on both your physical and mental health.

Tag us in your workouts - weโ€™d love to see!

Calling all rowers and resting rowers who have been challenged by cancer of any sort - we are so excited to have the pink boat on the water at this yearโ€™s Outback Rowing Regatta, and need your support to fill these very special 8 seats.

After meeting with the World Survivors Network, Beth Kohl, at Henley Masters earlier this year, our ORA board member, Toby Ford, agreed we needed involve as many cancer survivors as possible in rowing due to itโ€™s wide range of benefits, both for physical and mental health, and the community support. Since then, ORA has connected with from Lake Macquarie to bring the beautiful pink boat to this yearโ€™s Outback Rowing Regatta.

Named after Amanda Jessop Shaw, who is sadly no longer with us, it is a reminder that we need to make every day count. If youโ€™ve been touched by cancer in any way, and would like to join the pink boat in this yearโ€™s Regatta, please comment below or DM us. Itโ€™s a special cause close to all of us and one that we feel is important to represent in our community.

BARCALDINE ROWING ๐Ÿ‘ Brought together by an avid rower and now the Outback Rowing president, David Counsell, you can find the Barcaldine rowing club training at the local water ski park on Saturdays and Sundays mornings. Lucky for them, the water ski park makes for the perfect 1000m, 3 lane international rowing course!

It may be a double skull, or a quad skull, but whoever is in town and keen to get out on the water will come together. Interested in joining? ๐Ÿ‘‡๐ŸผComment below and weโ€™ll add you to WhatsApp group! In true fashion, everyone has a coffee on the veranda of the Shakespeare Hotel for a good yarn after training, before getting into the rest of the weekend activities.

Theyโ€™ll be putting their best foot forward for the upcoming Regatta, so letโ€™s see if the locals can take home the win!
