Lismore Hapkido

There are some people without whom none of us would be here and Grandmaster Kim is absolutely one of them!

47years ago, GrandMaster Kim brought Hapkido to Sydney, and generations of students since followed, making lifelong friends, building confidence, and becoming part of something much bigger than themselves.

It was such a pleasure to catch up with him and spend an afternoon swapping stories with some good laughs. The conversation wandered through the many martial arts styles GrandMaster Kim has trained in including Taekwondo, Judo, Ssireum and of course Hapkido; and moved onto future plans for instructor training, passing on the knowledge that started it all.

These days, Grandmaster Kim is enjoying life a little differently, spending most of his time with his family and grandchildren - a well-earned reward after dedicating so much of his life to martial arts and to his students.

Thank you, Grandmaster Kim, for everything you’ve given our Hapkido family. Your influence reaches far beyond the dojang, and we’re all incredibly grateful to be part of the legacy you have created ❤️
