Tas Junior Cycling Foundation

A fantastic weekend of racing for the Tasmanian Junior Cycling Foundation at the Cupra Brighton Junior Tour, with our riders producing consistent performances across every stage of the event.

The weekend began with Friday’s hill climb, where Ellie claimed second place in the Under 17 Women’s race, with Olivia finishing eighth. In the Under 17 Men’s event, Fletcher, Oscar and Mason all delivered strong rides to finish ninth, eleventh and twelfth respectively.

Saturday morning’s individual time trial saw Ellie produce a dominant ride to take the stage victory. Olivia followed with seventh, while Fletcher and Oscar both secured top-10 finishes in seventh and eighth. Mason continued to ride strongly, finishing in 25th.

The afternoon kermesse brought more impressive results. Ellie added another podium with third place, while Olivia again finished eighth. In the Under 17 Men’s race, Mason led the way in 11th, Oscar finished 12th and Fletcher crossed the line in 17th after another determined ride.

The final stage on Sunday was the road race, where Ellie rounded out her weekend with another second-place finish. Olivia once again rode consistently to finish eighth, while Oscar placed seventh, Mason twelfth and Fletcher fifteenth in a competitive Under 17 Men’s field.

The consistency shown across the four stages was reflected in the overall General Classification standings. Ellie finished second overall in the Under 17 Women, with Olivia securing eighth. In the Under 17 Men, Oscar claimed seventh overall, Fletcher eighth and Mason fifteenth.

Congratulations to all of our riders on an outstanding weekend of racing. Their determination, resilience and teamwork were evident throughout the tour, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts. What a way to wrap up the tour!

In the U17 Women’s race, Ellie rode an incredible final stage to take out the win on the day, which also secured her the Overall GC victory for the tour! An awesome result and a huge effort across all stages. Liv also had a strong ride, finishing 6th and grabbing another top 10 result.

In the U17 Men’s race it was a tough and very strung-out finish. Oscar rode well to come home in 12th, with Fletcher not far behind in 15th after another solid effort!

We are incredibly proud of all our riders and the way they represented TJCF across the whole tour. Big efforts, great racing, and plenty of positives to take away - this is only the beginning.

Next stop for the team will be the Canberra Junior Tour in late May. Stay tuned! 👊🏽

Stage 1 & 2 Recap – Alpe de Buffalo 🚴‍♂️

A big opening day of racing for the TJCF crew with both the criterium and time trial done and dusted.

Stage 1 – Criterium
The U17 men battled it out in a fast and technical crit, with both boys finishing safely in the main sprint. Oscar rolled across the line in 14th with Fletcher right behind in 15th after a solid ride.

In the U17 women’s race, Ellie put together a strong performance to finish 4th, just narrowly missing the podium. Liv also had a great ride, crossing the line in an impressive 10th.

Stage 2 – Time Trial
The afternoon time trial saw the riders test themselves against the clock. Fletcher delivered a strong ride to secure a top 10 finish, while Oscar followed closely behind in 13th.

In the U17 women, Ellie backed up her earlier ride with an outstanding performance to take 3rd place on the podium 🥉 Liv also put in a solid effort to finish 11th.

A great start to the weekend with one stage left to go tomorrow — the road race.

Day 4 | TJCF Bright Training Camp

The final day was designed to push every rider to their limit.
A brutal 165km featuring race simulations and multiple climbs, all under hot, windy conditions.

By the end, they were completely cooked - and to say they were spent when the day finally wrapped up would be an understatement.
