MapRun #8 results and map are now up on Eventor

MapRun #8 saw competitors back at Riverbend Park, but this time, with courses heading out and around Invermay and Inveresk instead of the Launceston CBD.
With the terrain being relatively flat, competitors covered a lot of distance, but they didn't necessarily find more controls (or Euan), with Euan proving elusive to half the competitors despite his fairly close location to the start! For those that are wondering, Euan was at control 43! Thanks as always to those who came along, we look forward to seeing you at Punchbowl in 2 weeks time!

The start for today's MapRun is on the playground side of the basketball courts at Riverbend Park. From the carpark, head towards the shelter on the far side of the basketball courts. You should see the orienteering banner. This is the same start location as MapRun #3, but we will be heading towards Invermay and Inveresk this time instead of the CBD. See you there!

If you thought it was wet and muddy today.... wait until tomorrow. A change of shoes and socks are essential!
The view from the arena today was quite beautiful, and the weather made up for the wetness underfoot. See you all at Glen Stuart.

After a hilly MapRun #6 at Trevallyn, MapRun #7 at Prospect provided some much-appreciated flatter terrain for competitors tonight. Perhaps not all good though, with the flatter ground seeming to trick some of us into being a bit ambitious about how much ground we could cover, and multiple people copping the 30 points per minute penalty for going over time 😲
Tonight was our biggest turn out so far, with a mix of both fresh and familar faces. It was great to see everyone out and about, we hope you all had fun! We look forward to seeing you all again at MapRun #8 around Inveresk in two weeks time. Two weeks is a long time without any 'O' though, so if you need an interim fix, don't forget to enter for OSTs #9&10 this weekend!
