Making the trip across Bass Strait from Victoria, a warm welcome to Pompette who will join the fleet for their first Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race.

Representing Hobsons Bay Yacht Club, Ryan has owned the Cavalier 350 SL for the past three years and is using the race as the perfect opportunity to reunite an old racing crew. Having previously raced together extensively on Tasmania's west coast, the team is looking forward to tackling their first longer offshore race together on Pompette, and getting a taste of Tasmania’s East Coast.

We look forward to welcoming Pompette and the crew to the 2026 Knest Modular Homes Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race and wish them the very best for their race south.

Welcome back to the fleet, Knest Modular Prion!

After three strong Launceston to Hobart campaigns, including taking out the overall win in 2024, the Mount Gay Lyons 30 is back for another shot at the title.

This year, owner Donovan Oak is strongly considering taking on the race Two-Handed alongside regular crew member Tim Edwards. With Prion’s proven offshore performance and Oak’s experience, including this being his ninth Launceston to Hobart, they will be a strong contender in the 20th edition of the race.

Oak said the pair are looking forward to potentially “mixing it up and giving this iconic race a go two-up.” As Project Manager for Knest Modular, Oak is proud to be competing in this year’s 20th event with the backing of this year’s sponsor, Knest Modular.

Can Prion replicate their 2024 success? We will have to wait and see when the fleet hits the start line.

Hosted by the Derwent Sailing Squadron in partnership with the Tamar Yacht Club, the race has become a fixture of the Tasmanian sailing calendar, attracting everyone from experienced offshore campaigners to crews taking on their first offshore challenge.

Race Director Ron Bugg said the anniversary is a chance to celebrate the volunteers, clubs, sponsors and competitors who have contributed to the event’s history.

Race Director Ron Bugg said the anniversary is a chance to celebrate the volunteers, clubs, sponsors and competitors who have contributed to the event’s history.
