This oneās a throwback to Spain 2018 šŖšø
If youāve been to my yoga classes or yoga trainings you might have heard me tell this story in person - itās JUST ONE of the reasons I think itās so important to learn and use Sanskrit in our classes - as both practitioners and teachers š
I had a similar experience at a class in France a few years ago too.
The excuse I often hear from some is that using Sanskrit is ānot inclusiveā and these experiences blows the argument that Sanskrit is not inclusive WAY out of the water. š
Drop a šļø if you or your teacher use Sanskrit in classes.

After last weekendās yoga teacher workshops in our beautiful Kingsley yoga room, Iāve been reflecting on the time spent together discussing the Yoga Sutras through the heart-centered lens of Nischala Joy Devi. š«
These arenāt always easy teachings to approach.
The Sutras can feel dense, abstract and sometimes difficult to decipher ā particularly when weāre trying to make sense of ancient wisdom through the lens of our very modern lives.
This is exactly why I think there is so much value in exploring them together.
Through The Secret Power of Yoga, Nischala offers us another way in. Rather than approaching the Sutras as rules to follow or ideals to perfect, she invites us to experience them as gentle reminders of the wisdom already within us.
There were questions. Different interpretations. Moments of recognition. And space for not knowing.
When it comes to exploring yoga philosophy, it isnāt necessarily about arriving at the right interpretation.
Itās about becoming curious enough to sit with these teachings. To question them. To notice what resonates ā and perhaps what doesnāt. And to allow our understanding to evolve through our own practice and lived experience.
For me, this is such an important part of becoming a yoga teacher.
Not knowing all the answers, but learning to listen, observe, question and hold space for another personās experience.
Because before yoga is something we teach, it is something we are invited to live.
I am so grateful for our small group of 4 curious souls š
I would love to know if there a teaching from the Yoga Sutras you find yourself returning to again and again?
Sara š
Part tongue in cheekā¦but also - hereās how to fold a yoga blanket!!!!! Only took me 14 years to make a sign about it š
Also - how pretty are my props?!
In a world that rewards busy, restorative yoga is a quiet rebellion.
Itās not about stretching further.
Itās not about achieving more.
Itās about allowing the body to exhale.
Rather than holdingā¦youāre being held.
Come join me Wednesday evenings in the room. š
Yoga teachersā¦
Stop feeding guilty for repeating your sequences.
Repetition builds familiarity.
Familiarity builds confidence.
Confidence creates safety.
And when students feel safeā¦
Thatās where the real practice begins. āØ

Within us resides a rhythm ~
Ebbing and flowing
Itās not straight
And itās certainly not narrow
Itās cyclical ā moving us through the energy of expansion, and rest.
And yet⦠so many of us move against this inner rhythm
We force
We strive
We donāt allow what we feel ~ perhaps even autopilot
My wellness offerings for women are not new, I began these offerings more than a decade ago; I continue refining, re-inventing and more importantly: returning.
This time around it feelsā¦
More spacious.
More intentional.
More attuned.
And SO needed
