Online Women’s Health Exercise Physiologist | Specialising in women’s and pelvic health and post surgery rehab

31/08/2026

It’s not uncommon for me to hear “I’ve been told I can ease back into exercise and I have no restrictions” and while that’s great news.

We can’t just jump back into pre-surgery exercise.

I could explain WHY but I know you’re not here for that 🤪🤣

First step to support yourself post surgery with return to exercise, is reestablish how your core canister works together !!! 😮‍💨🧘🏽‍♀️🫁
During surgery, there’s been so form of disruption.. abdominal wall incisions, maybe uterus or endo lesions removed, repair of hernia or a pelvic organ support system recon..Your body needs the chance AND TIME to rebuild so the core canister learns to communicate again after the change.

Then most importantly, see a women’s health exercise physiologist so you don’t play this ongoing guessing game with why this / that or how this / that, gradually reestablish your foundations and be on your merry way back to the exercise love ✨

A little insight into what to expect when working alongside a Women’s Health Exercise Physiologist to rehab your core post c-section 🫁🙋🏽‍♀️

I see it all too often, women doing too many core exercises or not with proper coordination between the deep core (pelvic floor + diaphragm + low back muscles) or abdominal doming with each exercise.

Looking at how the body works as a whole and getting the right breathing patterns from the start, can make all of the difference when reestablishing your postpartum exercise foundations.

No two women are prescribed the same program, and if you feel you aren’t making the progress you want with big return to exercise goals - then an individualised approach is where it’s at ❤️‍🔥🪩✨

The goal after a hysterectomy isn’t avoiding higher intensity, heavier load or impact training forever—it’s gradually rebuilding the capacity to tolerate it.

Strong foundations first and then plenty of middle ground work to build your symptom tolerance and capacity. Then gradually introduce impact and heavier loads to provide continual bone, muscle and tendon loading, to best support your return to running, sport, crossfit, “heavier lifting” and ultimately peri/menopause.

Easing back into exercise with minimal to no structure isn’t the same as rebuilding solid foundations after surgery through phased progression.

The onset of symptoms doesn’t automatically mean exercise is a stop sign either. More often than not, it’s simply your body telling you it needs a different approach with MORE structure and further support rebuilding strength, pressure management strategies , and your symptom threshold.

This is exactly why my Return To Strength Program was designed to help women move beyond the constant modifying and second guessing stage after surgery!

Most women don’t struggle to start exercising again after surgery.

They struggle with knowing HOW to progress beyond the early rehab phase, especially if you were someone who loved training or being active before surgery!

There comes a point where foundational exercises and gentle movement stop feeling challenging enough… yet you still don’t fully trust your body under more load or intensity.

Rehab helps reconnect you to your body, but rebuilding confidence in lifting, running, or higher intensity exercise requires gradual exposure to load again through:
👉🏼 phase-based programming with progressive overload
👉🏼 appropriate pressure management strategies
👉🏼 and symptom-guided progression

That transition shouldn’t feel like guess work.
