Golf news from the week

Wednesday Ladies report 16th September 2026

The ladies played their final round of the Club Championships on a beautifully presented golf course. The weather was good—although a little chilly and breezy, at least it stayed dry.

18 ladies played a stroke round sponsored by Rulcify's Gifts. Thank you to Karen and her team for their support.

The winner of the day, with a magnificent score of 100–35 = 65 nett, was the in-form Jan Milne. Congratulations, Jan! I think the handicapper may have knocked a stroke or two off with that score.

The ball rundown went to:

Lou Mudgway 108–35 = 73
Rosie Laughlin 109–35 = 74
Carol Dear 101–27 = 74
And holding up the leaderboard was Ange Morton—someone must, Ange!

30 Members played in great conditions with Ron Delamare winning the day with 41 points, Ball Pool went to Phil Lloyd 38, Kevin Lane 37, Peter Hatton, Barry Gladman, Joe Tartaglia 36.
Pen Award went to Tony Hall.

Saturday Stableford 19th September 2026

40 Members and guests played in great conditions, and it was Rhys Kings who was the day’s winner with 38 points, on a C/B from Barry Gladman, Chris Gray, Joel Robertson , Dave Gray and Roger Pay all 37, Jack Hewitt 36, Peter Hatton and Ron Delamare 35.
NTP’s went to David Wood 3rd, Kevin Lane 5th, Peter Jones 9th, Roger Pay 13th and Rhys Kings 16th, Pen Award Declan Heffer.

NDVGA Grass Greens Championship 2026

The 2026 Northern District Veteran Golfers Association, held its annual Grass Greens Championship at Tooleybuc Sporting club on Tuesday 15th September 2026.

A very good field of 38, entered both the Ladies and Men’s Section. The Ladies’ winner was our own Lorraine Bray 👏👏 and the Men’s winner was Geoff Frame. The Runner’s Up were Jenice Krahnert and Darryl Domaille

Ball Pool went to Lisa Zanker, Kerry Gammon, Ian Gammon, Neil Chisolm, Joe Tartaglia and Greg Gin.

The Pen Awards went to Roger Walker and Deanne Free.

NTP’s went to Amanda Male, Joe Tartaglia, Jenny Lynas, Lisa Zanker, Geoff Frame, Darryl Domaille, Jenice Krahnert and John Tripodi.

Ladies Club Championships 2026

The ladies played their final round (three rounds) of Club Championships on a beautifully presented golf course. The weather was good—although a little chilly and breezy, at least it stayed dry.

We had 15 starters—unfortunately a little lean on numbers, with several ladies away—but quality over quantity, they say!

Our Club Champion 🏆 and A Grade Champion is OLIVE SPITTY, with rounds of 73, 72 and 77 for a total of 222 (handicap +1).
This gives Olive seven consecutive Club Championship titles, and she is only 17 years of age. Huge congratulations, Olive—what an amazing achievement👏👏

Runner-up was her younger sister, Mabel Spitty, with rounds of 74, 82 and 77 for a total of 233 (handicap 3). Congratulations, Mabel.

Our B Grade Champion is Shirley Jenner, with scores of 96, 94 and 101 for a total of 291 (handicap 22).

Runner-up was Joanne Martin, with scores of 102, 102 and 99 for a total of 303 (handicap 22). Congratulations to you both.

This year's C Grade Champion is Jan Milne, who has been very consistent and has put a lot of time into her golf over the past year. Her hard work has been rewarded with scores of 111, 109 and 100 for a total of 320 (handicap 35). Well done, Jan.

Runner-up in C Grade was Angela Giouzellis, with scores of 104, 110 and 113 for a total of 327 (handicap 31). Great work, Ange, considering you froze over the three weeks!

The Nett Champion for 2026 is Jan Milne with a total of 215, ahead of Meagan Taylor and Jan Harry on 220.
The nett competition was a close race after the first two rounds, but Jan's magnificent final-round nett 65 saw her blitz the field in the end. Congratulations once again, Jan.

Wednesday Ladies Stroke 9th September 2026 and round 2 of championships for our ladies.

10 Ladies played today with Meagan Taylor winning with a score of 87-17=70.
Ball pool went to Lorraine Bray 108-38=70, Jan Harry 83-11=72.
NTP’s 5th (2nd Shot) Olive Spitty, Chino’s 9th Meagan Taylor, 13th Over 18 Handicap Carol Dear.

This Wednesday is the third and final round of the ladies club championship🏆

A good field with quite a few visitors joining us to play Stableford for the Greenwood Mugge and it was Hudson Taylor coming up trumps with 39 points and for the ladies, Nola Robinson won the Goblet with 41 points.

Ball Pool went to Luke Hadfield, Barry Gladman, Mason Dibsdale, Shane Dibsdale all 37, Peter Jones, J Wayrson, Sam Radcliffe all 36 and Rosie Greenfield 35.
NTP’s went to Max Prendergast 3rd, John Pay 5th, Hudson Taylor 9th, Rob Fabry 13th and Rosie Greenfield 16th.

Wednesday Ladies Monthly Medal Stroke 2nd September 2026

The ladies played for the Monthly Medal and their first round of the Singles Championship and the ladies were thrilled to get out on the course finally 🙌
The winner of the Monthly Medal is Mabel Spitty 74-3=71. Ball Pool went to Meagan Taylor 90-17=73, Ange Giouzellis 104-31=73, Shirl Jenner 96-22=74, Olive Spitty 73+1=74.
NTP’s went to Olive Spitty Chino’s 9th and Meagan Taylor 13th.

27 Members and guests play after some morning showers arrived.
The Monthly Medal winner is Ron Delamare net 70.
Ladies’ winner is Jan Harry 83-12= 71-three ladies played their championship 1st rd~Jan, Deaniee Henderson and Lou Mudgeway.

Golf finally only Saturday this past week 🙄👏

Saturday Stableford 29th August 2026

Well finally the Kerang Golf Course was open for competition today, 46 members and guests entered and under sunny skies got underway.
The course still has some soggy spots, but the mowers have been out and about. The next problem is going to be Mozzies!

The winner on the day was Mason Dibsdale scoring 38 points and for the ladies it was Mandy Ackland with 34 points. Ball pool went to Luke Hadfield, Steve Phillips, Ivan Wild, L Taylor all 34, Chris Manners, L Corrie, Shane Dibsdale,
H Gitsham all 33 and Chris Waterson 32.
NTP’s went to Kevin Lane 3rd, Chris Manners 5th/13th, David Wood 9th and L Corrie 16th.

News from the course, two weeks worth this week 😉

Wednesday Ladies 5th August 2026

A small field today, but a quality one.
Jan Harry won the day with 80-13=67, from Jan Milne 105-36=69. Nola Robinson won the Chino’s NTP on the 9th and Jan Harry also won the Putting comp with 25 putts.

Thursday R & R Stableford 6 August 2026

24 members and guests played today. The winner was Gavin Teasdale with 41 points. Ball Pool went to Chris Gray 38, Gtaham Wyte, Greg McNeil and Chris Manners 36, Jack Hewitt 35. NTP’s went to Phil Lloyd 3rd, Greg Gin 9th, Chris Gray 13th and Graham Wyte 16th.

Saturday Greenwood Mugge 8th August 2026

38 Members and guests contested for the Greenwood Mugge.
The winner was Peter Jones with 41 points.
Lady winner was Mandy Ackland with 37 points.

No golf for the ladies 😤 as the course was closed due to the heavy 🌧️ bring on Spring 🌻 so the ladies can get out on the golf course.

The course was reopened for play, with a couple of fairways still very soggy. There were 21 players entering and the days winner was Nick King with 38 points.
Ball Pool went to Phil Lloyd, Shane Dibsdale 35, Chris Manners, Graham Wyte, Brendan Shields 34.
The Pen Award went to Max Wilson.
NTP’s went to Phil Lloyd 3rd and 5th, Nick King 9th, Kevin Lane 13th and Shane Dibsdale 16th.

A good field for today’s event. Captain Brendan Shields won the day with 38 points.

The Pen Award went to Greg Gin.

7 Ladies ventured out in bright sunlight and really cold conditions to play a Par event. Megan Taylor was the winner coming home square with the card. Rosie Laughlin was -1. Chino’s NTP went to Jan Harry

Thursday R & R Stableford 30th July 2026

23 members and guests played today. The course is in great condition, and it is drying out. Volunteers are continuing with course maintenance in preparation for the fast-approaching Spring.
The winner on the day was Graham Wyte with 41 points (brand new set of irons worked well).
Ball Pool went to Scott Harry 34, Arron Lancaster, Casey Gillen and Tony Laughlin 33, Allan Free 32.
NTP’s went to John Pay 3rd, Wayne O’Neill 5th, Kevin Chase 9th, Casey Gillen 13th and Blake Shay 16th.

💔Vale Dale Spinks🌹

It is with much sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Dale, a long time member of our Golf and Bowls Club.
