Well done to Rattlesnakes powerhouse, Sam Rolfe, who after a stellar performance at the Australian Country Championships, has been selected for the inaugural Men's Country Championships Representative Team!

The team will compete at the Asia-Pacific Water Polo 23&U tournament, to be held in Brisbane in September. Congratulations, Sam, on this massive achievement; you've already done us proud!

We are incredibly proud of our Illawarra Water Polo athletes who recently represented their teams at the Water Polo Australia Australian Youth Water Polo Championships (AYC) that ran from 8–18 April in Brisbane. The AYC brings together a mix of school, club, state, national and international teams across multiple age groups and divisions, providing an unforgettable experience both in and out of the pool.

Competing on a national stage like the AYC is a massive achievement. The commitment, teamwork and resilience shown across 11 days of high‑level competition is something to be very proud of, and it’s fantastic to see Illawarra athletes representing their teams so strongly at this level.

Well done to all players, families, coaches and clubs who supported these athletes along the way. The future of water polo in our region is looking very bright!

Our U12 girls team had a great time at the Water Polo NSW Big Orange U12 Festival, as well as a podium finish - claiming the bronze medal 🥉

Congratulations to Rattlesnakes powerhouse, Sam Rolfe, who recently made his debut in the Water Polo Australia Australian Waterpolo League (AWL) with the Unsw Wests Waterpolo Magpies!

The AWL is Australia's highest level water polo competition. It features teams across four states in Australia, and numerous Olympic and international players. Well done, Sam, on this massive achievement; we can't wait to see you shine in the AWL

We have made the decision to cancel tonight's games, due to the severe thunderstorm warning currently in place for the Wollongong area. Though disappointing, the safety of our members is our top priority.

There will be no Illawarra Water Polo activities at UOW UniActive tonight. Stay home, stay safe - we'll be back in action next week.

A huge congratulations to Sullivan (U16 Boys), Lucinda (U14 Girls), Emily (U13 Girls) and Cara (U13 Girls) on being selected into the 2026 Water Polo NSW Development Academy!

This elite program supports holistic athlete development within the WPNSW pathway, focusing on technical skills, tactical understanding, physical preparation and overall growth in a high-quality training environment.

Each of these athletes has shown incredible commitment, coachability and passion for the sport, and this selection is a fantastic reward for the hours of hard work they put in.

We couldn’t be prouder of these four athletes and their hard work and dedication to the sport. We can’t wait to see what’s next!

We're all used to seeing Zoltan with a whistle around his neck, but this week, he returned from the Water Polo NSW Masters Championships with a gold medal, too! 🥇
