Now while this post of Bicycle Network is a couple of years old, a couple of things have changed. Some of the roads are now tar, which means less gravel. This could be a great thing for some.

Some these roads were also used as part of the 2023 Royal Far West event.

Do you have a route that isn't marked but should be?

This is the place to share it.

The popularity of gravel bikes and gravel riding opens the door to routes in the Bega Valley that aren’t possible on a road bike, and require too much highway time to be fun on a MTB.

Tomorrows course has been set!

Pedals down at 7am from 125 Auckland Street.
Down along the river
Chucking a Carpy.
Out to Parabell Street.
Across the cattlegrids (x2)
Up Mount Pleasant Road.
Down, out to Buckajo Road to the end of the tar.
We may get up Daisy Hill/Peak Hill road, but that will depend on how we all feel.
Roll along Buckajo Road.
Back to Francos for coffee.

It's that time of the year where cyclists of all types pull their bike out of their hiding place, and pump up their tyres and prepare their undercarriage!

But what also happens is that other road users are also not ready for more cyclists to appear.

Many drivers fail to notice bikes until it’s too late. Sometimes this phenomenon is referred to as SMIDSY (‘sorry mate, I didn’t see you’).

This is definitely an in-depth read about training intensities, so it could be best to grab a coffee and a scone and sit down and take the time to digest both.

It's important to keep working hard all through the year, avoiding a major reliance on Zone 2 training. This is why.

As part of tomorrows course, we will be paying our respects and wearing an armband to pay our respects to the riders who lost their lives in Canberra over the past two weeks. Two of our riders knew Ryan professionally, and he was definitely a quality human.

Leave 125 Auckland Street at 7am.
Down around the river.
Chuck a Carpy.
Out to Angledale to the end of the tar.
Back up Parrabell Street, turning right.
Across the cattle grids and up Mount Pleasant Road.
Out along Buckajo Road to Spring Creek road (bottom end).
Rolling back into Francos any way you choose.

This is a great list! Is there anything you would add?

For me, it would he the legal ride two abreast. Now, it doesn't make it right to do it all the time, but on the odd occasion, it is definitely the safer thing to do for all traffic.
