What a week at the Boxing Queensland Inc. international golden gloves! With over 900registered boxers world wide this even was ran so well!! 👏 👏
As a team we had lessons on lessons with Lauren stepping up in experience to get a fight… stepping up to an opponent with 3times the fight experience, Lauren held her composure and showed when she backed herself she had the upper hand !! Spencer in the ring next showing in early rounds the ability of hit and not being hit to a much taller opponent.. in the end a close battle to the end with a deserved win to Dalby…. These fights are the greatest lessons in boxing and test of our love for the sport…
What a great tournament and let’s go September is huge for Competition… letssss go..

With Spencer and Lauren both coming away with solid wins 🥇 🥇 at the Fiteklub GC tournament you run an awesome show!

What was most satisfying as a Coach was to see both box! And I’m mean box! Funnily enough similar tactic for both fights..
Distance control at long, using our feet to to box and move, staying on those straight punches while utilising their ring IQ 🧠 Jab was fire 🔥
Soooo good to see the discipline in the ring….
Which starts outside of the ring.

Spencer Hughes is one of our junior boxers who has come through Queensland Academy of Sport and Boxing Queensland Inc. talent identification YouFor32 program.

Most recently Spencer’s hard work has paid off with an incredible opportunity being selected Spencer to attend the Australian Institute of Sport and the Boxing Australia National Development Camp for junior athletes. Spending four days at the AIS giving him a taste at what his future may hold and preparing him heading into these competitions.

From the first day he stepped into the gym I could see why he was selected through this 2032 Olympic pathway, it was easy to see why he had been identified as an athlete with real potential. 16months in boxing, Spencer has a few fights under his belt and is now preparing to compete at the Fight Klub Tournament next week before turning his focus to the International Golden Gloves in August.

What stands out most about Spencer isn’t just his talent—it’s his attitude. When I raise the bar and say this is where you should be he steps up to the challenge. He works hard, sets high standards for himself, and whether he wins or loses, his focus doesn’t waiver. He listens, learns, and is constantly looking for ways to become better.

Those are the qualities that build champions.

We’re incredibly proud to have Spencer as part of our stable and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.

Well done, Spencer. This is only the beginning. 🥊
