Nerida was presented her award today by Mark Speakman MP for Cronulla for her amazing service to netball in NSW!

Congratulations to the Australian Diamonds for winning the Bronze Medal at the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

By any measure this is a fantastic achievement - but seemingly from much of the netball loving public an opportunity to criticise the players and coaches for not meeting expectations.

It’s ironic that this result would see more publicity than when the Diamonds actually WON the World Cup in the early hours of a Monday morning from South Africa last time out.

Our sport needs help and it needs people who want to support and encourage the players no matter the result! We are privileged to have a national team that can carry the burden of expectation but we should remember that as a highly ranked competitor we will always have opponents who lift their own performance to match ours!

This message is as relevant at club level as it is at international level - the finals are approaching for our club and while we will strive to win - if we don’t we will still
Have achieved something that all the spectators and commentators haven’t!

For all our connells point members - performing to the best of your ability and making a maximum effort is good enough regardless of the scorecard. By all means strive for improvement and continue to want to be better. But being in the game and giving your all is exactly what our club is built on!
