On Saturday 11th July, we proudly hosted our very first Fighting Seminar with the incredibly talented Sensei Ysobel. A two-time World Champion with more than 120 full contact fights, along with numerous national and state titles, she brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to everyone who attended.

We were thrilled to welcome more than 30 participants, all eager to learn from someone with such an outstanding fighting career.

The seminar covered a wide range of topics, including stretching routines, techniques, drills, and practical fighting strategies to help students develop their skills. Just as importantly, Sensei Ysobel shared her personal experiences, speaking about the mental side of competition and how to overcome the challenges that every fighter faces both inside and outside the mat.

We feel incredibly honoured to have had the opportunity to host Sensei Ysobel, especially as seminars like this are not common here in South Australia. We hope everyone who attended left with new knowledge, fresh motivation, and something they can continue to apply in their training.

A sincere thank you to every student and instructor who joined us and helped make the day such a success. We especially appreciate those who travelled from across South Australia to be part of the seminar Kangaroo Island Kyokushin Karate - KIKK , Frances Martial Arts Kyokushin Karate Adelaide North , Mawson Lakes Kyokushin. Your support meant a great deal to us.

Finally, thank you, Sensei Ysobel Jarjoura from Central Coast Kyokushin Karate for your generosity, passion, and for taking time away from your family to share your knowledge with our dojo. It was a privilege to have you at Brighton Karate, and we hope to welcome you back again in the future.

Osu!

After a very busy and successful weekend hosting the Brighton Fighting Seminar (photos and more details coming soon!), we had the pleasure of welcoming Shihan Jim to our dojo.

Taking the opportunity to train with Shihan Jim, we were also joined by students from Kangaroo Island and Mawson Lakes, making it an even more enjoyable and rewarding training session.

It is always a privilege to train with someone of Shihan Jim’s experience and knowledge. Every class is a great learning opportunity, not only for our students but also for the instructors.

Thank you, Shihan, for taking the time to visit and train with us. We really appreciate your support and hope to have you back at Brighton Karate again soon.

A proud milestone for Brighton Karate as we took our first students to represent our dojo at the Warrnambool Open Border Challenge!

We’re incredibly proud of all three competitors for stepping onto the mats with courage, determination, and the true spirit of Kyokushin. Regardless of the results, everyone is a winner for having the courage to step into the mat.

🥇Senpai Ruben - Full Contact Veterans Heavy Weight Champion. A well-earned comeback after more than eight years away from competition, returning to the mats and claiming the championship.

🥈Katsumi Abe - Full Contact Light Weight Runner Up. Competing in his very first full contact tournament, Katsumi showed great determination throughout the day, pushing hard against every opponent, including an experienced yellow belt competitor in the final. An outstanding debut performance.

Mark Lim performed with determination and represented our dojo with pride. He fought with skill, but didn’t manage to progress through a very large and competitive division. Awesome effort Mark!

A shoutout to the team from Mawson Lake, who also did very well at the tournament.

Congratulations to you all!! Osu

Last Saturday's Adelaide seminar, organised by the Mawson Lakes Dojo and hosted by Hanshi Viccars, was a fantastic event. We were also very fortunate to have Shihan Scott and Sensei Eddie join us. Their attendance was an unexpected but greatly appreciated surprise.

It was wonderful to see everyone training together, sharing knowledge, and demonstrating such great spirit and participation throughout the day. Congratulations to Mawson Lakes Kyokushin and all involved for a successful seminar.

➡️ Looking ahead, our next seminar at Brighton Dojo promises to be just as special, with Sensei Ysobel Jarjoura visiting on 11 July.

🌟 This is an opportunity not to be missed, so be sure to RSVP as soon as possible to secure your place!

We look forward to welcoming everyone to Brighton Dojo in July! 🥋

We travelled this past weekend to the fighting seminar hosted by the Frances Dojo, accompanied by one of our students Mark and Gobind from Mawson Lakes.
It was a great day of training and a wonderful opportunity to see everyone.

Thank you to Sensei Brad and Sensei Pete for organising the event and making us feel welcome.
