Basketball NSW's U13 Skills Days are designed for players transitioning between top-age U12s (2015) and bottom-age U14s (2014), providing quality coaching and athlete education during a key stage of their development.

Led by experienced Basketball NSW coaches, athletes will develop the Super 6 core skill areas while building confidence, game understanding, and strong basketball fundamentals in a supportive learning environment.

Open to players from both Metro and Country NSW, regardless of playing experience.

2027 IVOR BURGE STATE TEAM TRIALS | NOW OPEN

Basketball NSW is now calling any interested athletes who wish to trial for the 2027 NSW Ivor Burge Men & Women State Teams to register for the upcoming trials. 🏀

The Ivor Burge Championship is for athletes with an intellectual impairment as per the VIRTUS classification requirements. A participant's eligibility is based on an Intelligence Quotient (IQ) of 75 or below.

NOW HIRING | REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT OFFICER CENTRAL COAST & HUNTER

Basketball NSW is seeking a passionate and community-focused Regional Development Officer – Central Coast & Hunter to help grow and strengthen basketball across the region.

This part-time role will work closely with local associations, volunteers, schools, councils and community organisations to increase participation, support sustainable growth, and create more opportunities for people to enjoy our game.

As a key point of contact for basketball communities across the Central Coast and Hunter, you'll help deliver participation programs, build strong local relationships, and support associations to thrive both on and off the court.

The Leeanne Palmer Country Development Program (CDP) Camps for the remainder of 2026 are now open for registrations.

Designed for regional athletes, the camp provides an opportunity to sharpen skills, strengthen fundamentals, and build confidence ahead of the upcoming representative season.

Open to boys and girls in the U14, U16 and U18 age groups (born 2009–2014), the camp will feature high-quality, structured sessions delivered by experienced coaches in a supportive and challenging environment.

Tamworth Thunderbolts and Moss Vale Magic Basketball went down to the wire, with Tamworth coming away with a 94–93 victory to be crowned the 2026 Waratah Men Champions.

NSW REPRESENTATIVES SET FOR AUSTRALIAN PEARLS WORLD CUP CAMPAIGN

Congratulations to NSW Ivor Burge State Team players Brittany Anderson, Ruby Thomson and Mackenzie Wills, who have been selected to represent the Australian Pearls at the 2026 VIRTUS / VIBF World 3x3 Cup.

They will be joined by fellow NSW representative Larry Davidson, who will lead the Pearls as Head Coach.

The Pearls head to Bangkok, Thailand, this November with plenty to play for, entering the tournament as the reigning 3x3 World Champions. Australia is also the current 5x5 World Champion, continuing an impressive period of international success for the Pearls program.

The Boomers take on Syria tonight before facing Jordan on Sunday as they continue their push towards World Cup qualification.

Our team to commence Group E play in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers 🔒

Game 1 vs Syria - August 28th 7:00pm AEST
Game 2 vs Jordan - August 30th 7:00pm AEST

Top 3 from Group E automatically qualify for the FIBA World Cup in Qatar 2027. We currently sit atop of the Group - our 6 win & 0 loss record from Group A carried over into Group E.

Both games to be played in Manila and will be live on ESPN 📺

JULY SCHOOL HOLIDAYS RECAP | COMMUNITY PATHWAYS

It was a busy July School Holidays for Basketball NSW, travelling more than 3,000km across metro and regional NSW to provide young athletes with opportunities to get on court, develop their skills and enjoy the game.

Across our U12 and U13 Skills Days, Metro Development Program, Leeanne Palmer Country Development Program and pilot Sharpshooters Camp, 567 athletes took part in sessions across NSW.

A highlight was bringing the Sharpshooters Camp to Coffs Harbour alongside WNBA draftee & NSW junior Amelia Hassett, giving young athletes the chance to learn and hear about her basketball journey.

A big thank you to the associations that hosted us and all of the coaches and volunteers who helped make these opportunities possible. We also want to recognise and thank your floor coaches Felicity Cook, Brooke Seccombe, Howard Marzan, Jacob Harkin, Chris Jones and Michael D’Agostino.

And, of course, thank you to all 567 athletes who joined us and brought plenty of energy to the court.
