Hobart Cup update

A little bit of patience is going to be needed from everyone today.

We have a Masked Lapwing, commonly called a plover, nesting on one of the 11-a-side fields at Wentworth Park. It is a protected bird and the nest cannot simply be moved.

That means we have lost one of our 11-a-side fields for the tournament.

Unfortunately, this is not as simple as just finding another ground. The replacement venue may be too far from the original field for teams to travel between matches safely and sensibly, so we now have to review the entire roster to make sure any changes do not create flow-on problems elsewhere.

That means all U13 to U15/16 boys and girls rosters may be affected while we work through the safest and most practical solution.

Please be patient with us.

We know families have made plans, some teams are travelling considerable distances and everyone wants certainty. We are doing our best to keep changes to an absolute minimum and to protect reasonable breaks between matches and travel time between venues.

The important thing is this:

The kids will get to play.

You may need to adjust your plans a little, but please don’t start changing anything just yet. Give us time to work through the roster properly and we will communicate the revised arrangements as soon as we can.

These things are sent to try us, and apparently this year they have arrived with feathers. 😊

METRO FC, NORTH CHIGWELL – HOBART CUP VENUE INFORMATION ⚽️

If you’re playing at Metro Football Club, North Chigwell during the Hobart Cup, a few things to know before you arrive.

There is good parking available on site, but as always please drive slowly and carefully around the venue. There will be lots of children, families and teams moving between cars and fields throughout the weekend.

Please follow the field map carefully so you know where your match is being played and allow yourself enough time to get organised before kick-off.

One of the great things about North Chigwell is the fabulous Metro FC kitchen, which will be open with a delicious menu across the weekend. So if you need something hot to eat or a drink between games, you’ll be well looked after. ☕️🍔

Please respect the venue, dispose of rubbish properly and help us leave the grounds as we found them.

And most importantly, slow down, keep an eye out for children and enjoy the football.

SANDOWN PARK – HOBART CUP VENUE INFORMATION ⚽️

If you’re playing at Sandown Park during the Hobart Cup, a few things to know before you arrive.

Parking around the venue can get very busy, so please allow a little extra time and park legally and considerately. Please don’t block driveways, access points or emergency vehicle access.

Please drive slowly around Sandown Park and be especially careful near the roads surrounding the fields. Balls can and do roll onto the road.

Spectators, please keep an eye out for this, especially where younger children are playing. If a ball goes onto or near the road, help make sure children don’t simply run after it.

We’ll also have Brew Hound Espresso at Sandown Park, serving locally sourced premium coffee, hot drinks, cold drinks and tasty treats. ☕️

Please check the field layout before your first match so you know exactly where you need to be.

A little planning and a little extra care around the roads will help keep everyone safe over a very busy Cup weekend.
