Congratulations to Rebecca Mathers who improved her State F20m Hammer Record from 19.73m to 20.02m. And it was raining records in the final event of the day, with our Masters Tossers all recording Tasmanian Age records in the Single-Arm Throw.

Special thanks to Phil Hniat, who acted as our Bronze Referee for the comp and took the time on Friday to ensure the sector lines met requirements for the event. Thanks also to Daimon Casey, Khim Kwanruan, Philippa McCarron, Willow Helgeson, Jen Woodward, Maddox Day, Roger Hosie and Emily Canham for officiating. The third of our Winter Throws meets will be in Launceston on Sunday 13th September. Entries opening this week.

At the recent Winter Throws meet in Launceston, 19 athletes braved the cold and enjoyed a great day of competition. We welcomed Imogen and Tom from Victoria, and it was great tro see the trip across Bass Straight pay off with both recording personal bests on the day.

In the week leading up to the meet we had a coupe of scratchings from the men's Hammer, so we put a call out looking for men to enterto make it a valid comp for Xavier Leauma before he headed off to the World Junior Champs. Henry Marston, Jacob 'Jason' Smith and Seb Hardinge quickly answered the call, and despite never having previously picked up a hammer, all three competed on the day, with Seb even mastering a couple of turns. Thanks heaps gentlemen, you really are the best! Thanks to Northern Tasmanian Athletics, especially Mark, Wim, Sandra and Brian for their help on the day.
