Day One of the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships has arrived, with 26 Australians set to kick off the action in Oregon, USA.

Set those alarms! It all begins tomorrow morning, with Bailey Van Dan Broek and Isabella Wing leading the way in the Heptathlon from 3:00am AEST. ⏰

By the time you wake tomorrow morning, competition will be underway in the World U/20 Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

And on day 1, session 1, (5.05am Hobart time) Xavier LEAUMA is up in Group B of the Hammer qualifying, and, if you are looking for an early start, it is being broadcast on 7Plus.

Also up on day 1 are Issy WING (NLAC) and Bailey VAN DEN BROEK in the heptathlon, getting under way at 3am, while Xavier DAVIE (UTAS) goes later in the week in the Decathlon.

Here is the first look at the new XC course for this Saturday. Looks.like the mud will still be fun 😁

Here is the course map for this Saturday’s new cross country event at Rookwood Road.

It’s roughly a 4km loop, which you will have the option of doing once or twice.

To get to the start, head to Ranelagh, then follow North Huon Road towards Judbury for 4.2km.

Rookwood Road will be on your left.

Follow the flags down Rookwood Road, past the Rookwood Salmon Hatchery, for around 1.7km until you see the Start/Parking area near the Huon River.

Sections of the course are muddy and trail shoes are recommended.

It’s a Premiership Round, with a start time of 10am.
