It’s a heartbreaking end to the season for the UTAS Lions, going down to Taroona 29-28 in a hard-fought semi final.

Taroona started strongly, scoring the first two tries, but the Lions fought their way back into the game to trail 17–14 at half time. The second half was a back and forth battle, with both sides giving it their all right until the final whistle. In the end, the Lions fell just one point short of a grand final appearance.

Max Nina led well out of position at 10, Jeremy was a constant attacking threat, Tom Burt put in some great runs, and Kal Krautz made a big impact from fullback.

2026 was our first full season as a combined club. Despite fluctuating numbers throughout the season, the boys put in a huge effort every week and continued to compete in every game. It was also great to welcome a number of new and first year players who will help build a strong base for the seasons ahead.

We’re incredibly proud of the boys for making the semi finals and coming so close to a grand final appearance.

What a game!

UniQueens secured a hard fought 24–17 victory over Taroona in a tough and physical semi final, earning our spot in the Grand Final!

From the opening whistle, the girls showed plenty of determination and composure. Taroona came out strongly and challenged us right across the park, but the girls stuck to the game plan and kept working for each other.

There were some great attacking moments, strong carries, big tackles and plenty of pressure from both sides. When the game got tight, the girls showed real character, staying composed and fighting right until the final whistle.

A 24–17 win in a semi final is something to be proud of. The girls have worked incredibly hard throughout the season, and today they showed exactly what this team is capable of when they back themselves and play for each other.

A massive thank you to our coaches, manager, supporters and everyone who has backed this team throughout the season. And to the girls enjoy this one, because you’ve earned it! ❤️

What a way to finish the regular season!

Our UniQueens women finished the season with a fantastic 93–12 win over Launceston, putting together one of our strongest performances of the season.

From the opening whistle, the girls came out with great energy, confidence and determination. We moved the ball well, created space and continued to apply pressure throughout the game. It was fantastic to see the hard work from training coming through on the field, particularly with our communication, support play, passing, tackling and team structure.

The forwards worked hard to give us a strong platform, while our backs took their opportunities and showed plenty of confidence with ball in hand. Most importantly, the girls continued to work for each other and stayed connected as a team.

The result is only one part of what we can be proud of. The growth we have seen from this group throughout the season has been incredible. We have had challenges with injuries, new players learning the game and plenty of moments where we have had to adapt but the girls have continued to turn up, learn and support one another. Every contribution has helped get us to where we are today.

The season isn't over yet. We've earned our place in the finals, and now it's time to reset, refocus and finish the job. ❤️🖤💙💚💜

The UTAS Lions came away with a strong 31–7 win over Easts at WMO over the weekend, putting on the Lions heritage jerseys for the occasion.

We started strongly, with an early try from Kal Cardon. The first half was a physical battle, with both sides throwing everything into it. The Lions went into the break with a solid 14–7 lead.

The second half saw the boys settle into their groove, holding onto the ball and building pressure. Kal (Captain) controlled the game well alongside Brancher at 10, helping to lift the team and run away with the win.

Kal Krautz had a great game at flanker, tackling and running hard earning the 3 points and players player. Rickardt crossed for two tries in just one half of playing, while Brandon was once again outstanding in defence.

A big effort from the whole team to get the result. With the final match of the regular season at home next week make sure your getting around the boys as they look to head into finals on a high! 🦁❤️🖤

Congratulations to Oliver Brancher on reaching his 50th club game!

Since making his debut in 2022, Ollie has become a valued member of our club. A talented fly-half and reliable goal kicker, Ollie has consistently made an impact whenever he takes the field.

Following in the footsteps of his dad Adam and sister Antonia, who have also represented UTAS, it’s a milestone made even more special.

Well done Ollie, here’s to plenty more! 👏
