We provide low-cost, positive, sport, recreation, social & cultural programs in a safe environment.

Activities include gymnastics, weight training and self-defence. Hobart PCYC also offers special projects designed to provide activities and support programs to those who are unable to access our facility in Liverpool Street, close to the centre of Hobart. Activities, once organised and run by volunteers and parents, have changed and expanded over our 50 years of operation and are now coached or instructed by experienced, accredited personnel.

🥋 No Karate Classes Tomorrow, Saturday 11th July

Our coaches are away at the Karate Australia National Championships this weekend, so Saturday's karate classes are paused. Please note that all other gym facilities and regular fitness classes will run as normal.

• No Karate: Saturday 11th July
• Classes Resume: Monday 13th July

Since the National Championships are being held locally at 601 Brooker Highway, Glenorchy from Friday to Sunday (8:00 AM to 6:00 PM), it is a great event to check out if you want to see some high-level martial arts.

We want to wish a massive good luck to all the competitors, coaches, and officials involved this weekend.

See you back on the mats on Monday!

📣Something for our youth Club members! This year’s Premier’s Reading Challenge is off and running at schools around the state!📚📚 Why not visit the Hobart Library to find a new read to add to your reading tally? Libraries Tasmania has a large collection of books for children and young people:

📚 For children who are learning to read independently, check out early readers. They feature simple vocabulary and repetitive text.

🕵️ For curious kids, try borrowing a Little Explorers book pack. These packs contain five carefully selected books on an early learning topic for children aged 4–8 years.

🖥️ The eLibrary has lots of junior stories on Libby and BorrowBox. Families can also explore StoryBox, where you can watch expert Australian storytellers read diverse and inclusive stories.

🔎 If your little one has a favourite book, you don’t have to spend time searching for similar titles. Simply hop onto the Library catalogue and check out the “You may also like” tab – you’ll find great suggestions with similar themes and styles.

📖 If your young reader isn't sure what to read next, check out Good Reading for Kids: https://bit.ly/3SdMqNt

Happy International Being You Day | 22 June💙
Today is all about celebrating individuality, self-acceptance, and the courage to be different. At Hobart PCYC, we’re proud to offer a safe, inclusive space where young people and the broader community can show up exactly as they are. :)

Whether you’re stepping into a new activity for the first time, building confidence, or simply finding your place — you don’t have to pretend here.

Being “you” doesn’t have to be loud or attention-grabbing. Sometimes it looks like:
✨ giving something a go, even if you’re unsure
✨ asking for support
✨ setting your own pace
✨ or quietly discovering what you enjoy

Our programs are about more than just activities — they’re about belonging. When people feel safe, supported, and accepted, they’re more willing to try, grow, and connect.

Today is your reminder: you don’t need to change to take part. You’re already welcome here!

🧘‍♀️ International Day of Yoga at Hobart PCYC 🧘‍♂️
Today we’re celebrating International Day of Yoga and the powerful connection between movement, mindfulness and community 💙

At Hobart PCYC, we see the benefits of movement and connection reflected across everything we do—from our gym workouts and fitness training to youth programs and community activities. Like Yoga, our activities help build strength, balance, focus and resilience—skills that carry into boxing sessions, group fitness, and everyday life.

✨ Whether you’re lifting in the gym, joining a class, or supporting our young people, the same principles apply:
• Strong body, strong mind
• Focus and discipline
• Taking time to reset and recharge

Today is a reminder to slow down, breathe deeply and look after your wellbeing—on the mat, in the gym, or wherever you feel your best.

If you’ve been thinking about mixing up your routine, why not add a little more stretch and balance to your training? Our space is here for everyone—no matter your starting point.

📍 Come in, get active, and be part of a community that supports your whole wellbeing.
