🕊️Vale Gavan Whitney🕊️
The Hobart Greyhound Racing Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Gavan Whitney, a lifelong greyhound man and much-loved member of the Tasmanian greyhound racing community.
Gavan’s passion for greyhound racing spanned decades, and his name will forever be remembered alongside some amazing greyhounds, including Chinatown Lad and Fallen Zorro, littermates he bred and reared.
Chinatown Lad went on to become a dual Group 1 winner, while Fallen Zorro was also a multiple Group winner. Their success, including their famous Quinella finish in the 2008 Sandown Cup, a proud chapter in Gavan’s long association with the sport.
Gavan will be remembered not only for the greyhounds he bred and his contribution to racing, but for the friendships he made and the character he brought to the industry.
Our deepest condolences go to Gavin’s wife Cheryl, son's Shane & Chris, his grandson's,and their families and to all who knew and loved him.
Rest Peacefully Gavan. A true character of the Tasmanian greyhound racing. You will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
