How good is sport!

Whether these figures from 'The Australian' are correct or not, no one could dispute there hasn't been an incredible windfall for Australia's economy and tourism with the FIFA Women's World Cup.

Australia are firming for hosting the men's tournament in either 2034/38.

Why wouldn't Tasmania want to try and be a part of the biggest sporting event in the world.

It could be group games, lead up friendly's or training bases for other countries.

Well done Matildas! 💚💛💚

Bring on Mac Point! ❤️💛💚

Gale rejects overtures from AFL, in box seat for Tasmanian CEO role 04/08/2023

Massive news for Tasmania yesterday with Brendon Gale turning down an AFL role to continue at Punt Road for another season.

According to The Age's Caroline Wilson, this move puts Gale in the box seat to be Tasmania's inaugural CEO from 2025 onwards.

The Tasmania club chairman, Grant O'Brien, met with Tasmanian football heavyweights Peter Hudson, Jack Riewoldt, Rodney Eade, Scott Clayton and Brendon Gale in Melbourne last week.

What a time for Tasmanian football.

Old-school advice from Dad that's stuck with draft gun 30/07/2023

A lot of talk in AFL circles about North Melbourne possibly having access to Tasmanian Ryley Sanders in the draft and Gold Coast having 3 of their Academy prospects rated as first round choices.

Now if Tasmania entered the league next year, we would have first access to both Sanders and fellow Tasmanian top 10 prospect Colby McKercher.

How good for Tasmanian Football!

Fantastic article from AFL below on Ryley Sanders. ⬇️

"To win the Larke Medal and be the captain is such a massive honour and to have Colby (McKercher) as well come second is pretty cool to have two Tasmanians. We've been really close, we played under-12s state together so to succeed and be judged the two best players at the champs is pretty cool."

ALEX PEARCE AND DOCKERS STUN CATS IN GEELONG

Well done Moose👏 🟥🟨🟩

BELOW FROM FOX SPORTS ⬇️

Amid fierce criticism from the media, Alex Pearce just pulled off one of the great skipper’s games.

Tasked with shutting down superstar Tom Hawkins – then moving onto Jeremy Cameron for the frantic final few minutes – Pearce produced his finest hour as Dockers captain.

He kept Hawkins to two goals from five touches – those marks often came when Geelong’s ball movement up the field was too hard for any defender to handle – but was just as impressive with ball in hand, finishing with 18 disposals and a career-high eight intercept marks as he matched it with Hawkins and Cameron in genuine one-on-one contests.

“Absolutely enormous … He’s played one of his great games,” Lyon said of Pearce.

The Freo skipper, who like his team has struggled for consistency and form this season, said he was up for the challenge.

“I love coming up against great opposition and those two are as good as it gets,” Pearce told Fox Footy post-game.

He said he was “so proud” of his Dockers teammates.

“We’ve been under the pump the last few weeks, we haven’t been playing our best. We know we’ve got that footy in us and we’ve produced that a few times this year, but our consistency has been an issues,” he said.

“We wanted to come down here and play our way, play with a hunger and passion and intensity – and we did that.”

“I hope our fans back home are proud of us.”
