A huge congratulations to Coach Liz on another fantastic championship.

These results reflect the high standard of swimming Liz continues to bring to our squad and the work she puts into developing confident, capable, and well-rounded swimmers.

What a fun, busy few days it was.

A huge shout-out to Jacquie for once again telling our story through her photos and capturing so many great moments across the championships.

And to our parents, thank you for your continued support of our swimmers and our club. It is greatly appreciated and plays such an important part in helping our little club continue to grow.

Swimming can be such an individual sport, but it is the team around you that brings it home.

21st out of 101 clubs.

A fantastic result for our Sharks. πŸ¦ˆπŸ’™πŸ§‘

FRASER COAST SHARKS FIRING AT QLD SHORT COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS πŸ¦ˆπŸ’™πŸ§‘

Three days down and our small team of 19 Fraser Coast Sharks is on fire at Queensland Short Course Championships.

Thursday night opened with the distance crew, with Nilay, Arianne and Hannah stepping up for the 800m Freestyle. Hannah raced to 5th with a PB, Arianne finished 8th and Nilay producing a gutsy swim to take πŸ₯ˆ 2nd place and get our championships underway.

Friday brought plenty more β€” PBs, Top 10s, Top 5s and some brilliant racing right across the team.

One of the big highlights was Mia R, who became a dual Queensland Champion, taking:

πŸ₯‡ 100m Backstroke – 1st, PB
πŸ₯‡ 200m Backstroke – 1st, PB

Nilay then rounded out the day with another distance swim, smashing a PB in the 1500m Freestyle to take another πŸ₯ˆ 2nd place.

Saturday certainly didn’t slow things down.

πŸ₯‡ Mia R added another Queensland title, winning the 200m Freestyle with a PB, taking her championship tally to three gold medals so far.

πŸ₯‰ Hannah K produced a huge PB in the 200m Freestyle to finish 3rd

πŸ₯‰ Nilay O was back on the podium again with a PB and 3rd in the 200m Freestyle

πŸ₯‰ Gabriella P put together a fantastic 400m IM, taking 3rd with a PB

And there have been plenty more outstanding performances throughout the team:

⭐ Riley H – 4th 100 Back PB, 6th 100 Breast PB & 9th 50 Free PB
⭐ Zac B – 5th 200 Free, 8th 100 Back PB, plus multiple Top 10 finishes
⭐ Cooper R – 6th 200 Back PB, 12th 100 Back PB & a string of PBs
⭐ Sebastian M – 9th 200 Fly PB, 9th 100 Back PB & 11th 100 Fly PB
⭐ Gabriella P – 8th 100 IM PB, 8th 100 Back and 4th 200 Fly PB
⭐ Hannah K – 5th 800 Free PB, 7th 100 Free PB and multiple Top 10 finishes
⭐ Mia R – 5th 100 Fly PB and 6th 100 Free

And behind those headline results are PBs and strong racing from Zach C, Molly, Arianne, Saxton, Elya, Chai, Kai, Sasha, Sienna and Marcus, with plenty still to come.

But sometimes it is the little things you see on pool deck that mean just as much as the results.

Swimmers supporting swimmers. Waiting at the end of a race. Celebrating the big achievements, the small wins and the PBs that might mean everything to one swimmer. Cheering each other on and being there when a race doesn’t quite go to plan.

Swimming is such an individual sport, but the team around you is what brings it home.

At the end of Friday’s competition, Fraser Coast was sitting 21st on the overall team point score out of 134 teams,.

Three huge days down.

One more day of racing β€” let’s see what the Sharks can do.πŸ”₯🦈

A huge congratulations to Riley H, who proudly represented Queensland at the Australian School Swimming Championships in Melbourne.

Competing in the 17–19 years age group, Riley finished his school swimming journey on the national stage, racing in the final of the 100m breaststroke placing 9th.

What a great achievement and a wonderful way to mark his final year of school.

Congratulations, Riley.
