We are so delighted and proud to announce that our two beautiful Off-the-Track Therapy Horses at — ‘Troy’, a Standardbred (Racing name - Abercrombie Jade) and ‘Monty’, a Thoroughbred (Racing name - Real Estate) are both successful recipients of the Off-The-Track 2026 Therapy Horse Grant!

This brilliant program supports horses just like Troy and Monty, who had careers on the track with harness and have now both transitioned into their second careers and purpose as therapy horses post racing.

Queensland Off The Track grant supports our therapy boys for a year, helping equine-assisted therapy providers and not-for-profits like ours incorporate these retired racehorses into programs.

Funding can go towards veterinary services, farrier and feed costs — helping us keep Troy and Monty happy and healthy as they continue their important therapy work in our community.

We love giving these boys a second career, and one which they absolutely flourish and thrive in! 💛

🎉 IT’S MONTY’S BIRTHDAY! 🎉

Fun fact: every thoroughbred in Australia shares the same birthday — 1 August! It’s how the racing industry keeps things fair, ageing every horse together no matter what day or month they were actually born on in a year🎂


This ginger baby was sold at the Magic Millions as a yearling in 2017. During his racing career, Real Estate (as he was known on the track) had 2 wins, 1 second and 4 third places.

In his second career at , now known as Monty, he does not do much quickly - we can assure you he left his speedy racing genes at the track unless he is causing mischief in his paddock with his buddies!


Monty is a proud Queensland Off The Track grant recipient – loving the lifestyle and the vibes of his second career - teaching our clients how to handle a big horse! 🐴

🐴 Holistic Care in Action at HEART 🐴

At , we believe true horse welfare goes beyond the basics — it’s about holistic health that keeps our horses feeling their best in body and mind. The is one of the many therapies our lucky duck horses receive.

Mastersons is such a beautiful example of a holistic therapy: a gentle, hands-on approach that helps release tension and support our horses’ natural range of motion.

You could really see how much they loved it — soft eyes, relaxed necks, big sighs and yawns of release. Bodywork like this makes a big difference, especially for horses who give so much of themselves in our therapy sessions.

🕊️ Forever wings for our Ruby 🕊️

It’s with heavy hearts that we share that Ruby has earned her forever angel wings. In her mid-thirties, her body simply decided it was done — and while we are heartbroken, we know it was the right time for her to join her best friend Calisha in the forever paddock in the sky, the one that only serves the sweetest grass and the very best carrots.

This is part of the heartbreak that comes with responsible, long-term horse ownership — loving them for every one of their years, right to the very end.

Ruby was prickly at the best of times, but she had this incredible gift: the ability to hold space and give her time to the people who needed it most. That contradiction was pure Ruby, and it’s exactly why so many of you loved her.

Thank you to our volunteers, our community, and our clients who cared for and loved her over the years.

Ruby, we love you, we miss you, and we will keep you in our hearts always. 🐴💛
