Did you know kids as young as 4 years old can take on a Spartan Kids race?

The Open Kids wave is designed to be fun, exciting and confidence-building. Parents and adults can run the course alongside their children, helping them over obstacles, encouraging them through challenges and celebrating every achievement together. It’s all about teamwork, adventure and giving kids the chance to discover what they’re capable of.

For kids who love to compete, there’s also a more serious side to Spartan. From around 7 years old, they can enter the competitive wave and test themselves against other young athletes. But if you’re new to Spartan, the Open wave is the perfect place to start.

Every child who crosses the finish line earns a Spartan finisher medal and shirt to wear with pride—an achievement they’ll remember long after race day.

The next Spartan Kids Race is at Melbourne Urban on Sunday, August 9th. If you’re looking for something different, active and challenging for your kids, this is an experience they won’t forget.

KICKSITS. Love ’em or hate ‘em… we’re doing them.

Think you can’t move like this? Not yet.

Mobility is something you train, just like strength and fitness.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is believing that because they can’t do something today, they’ve lost it forever. You haven’t. With consistent training, your body adapts, your movement improves, and you become stronger through a greater range of motion.

As we get older, mobility becomes one of the most important things we can work on. Better mobility means moving easier, feeling better, reducing aches and pains, and staying capable for life.

Kicksits are one of my favourite movements because they tick every box.

✅ Build serious core strength
✅ Improve hip and thoracic mobility
✅ Challenge balance and coordination
✅ Develop body awareness and control
✅ Train your whole body to move as one

Do them slowly and they’ll expose every mobility restriction you have while helping you improve it.

Do them fast… and they become a weapon. Your heart rate climbs, your core has to brace, and you’ve suddenly got an incredible full-body conditioning exercise.

Technique first. Speed comes later.

Goals aren’t achieved overnight—they’re built one rep, one session, and one small win at a time.

Lately I’ve been working on my pull-ups. They’re a huge part of building the grip strength and upper body strength I need for Spartan races. Some days they feel strong, other days I need a little assistance… and that’s completely okay.

Progress isn’t about being perfect every session. It’s about showing up, putting in the work, and trusting the process. Every rep, every attempt, every setback is still a step forward.

Just keep chopping away. Stay consistent. Before you know it, you’ll be stronger than you ever thought possible.

I’m not where I want to be yet, but I’m one step closer every single day—and that’s exactly what counts.
