Trophies are ready and we're almost ready to race finals. Thanks to these awesome kids who offered to help setup. Most people are happy to watch, very rarely does someone come and ask what can they do. Great job kids!

Junior Development Program- race day run down Part 2.
5. It is best practice to enter and exit the kart on the side opposite the engine. I saw a number of kids trying to step over hot motors, and weren't corrected by adults.
6. I have attended hundreds of pre race briefings through the years at car racing events, and the drivers all listen carefully to the officials instructions. Can all novice, rookie and junior drivers please attend these meetings with a sensible attitude and listen carefully to what the officials are saying. Talking right through the officials briefing is not only rude, but demonstrates a lack of understanding of how motor racing events are run. These meetings are held at all levels of motor racing, including V8 Supercars, GT3, Le Mans and Formula 1. They all listen, and so should you.
7. Can all members please inform any guests that join you on race day, that they are expected to conduct themselves correctly. We had a situation recently where invited friends of a competitor were cheering and laughing loudly whenever another child's kart left the track, or was damaged. Not on. The parents of the children who were involved in the accidents rightly expressed their concerns to me. On a personal note, dads might want to watch your language as well around the grandstand area. I've had quite a few elderly relatives escorting young children express concern over how bad some dad's language is when their child is racing.
8. Please explain to your child the meaning and importance of track limits, not allowing the kart to have all 4 wheels past the white line. Sometimes an official might not see it, but if they do they will be penalised. A kart out of track limits is highly likely to pick up rocks or gravel and blast them at the following kart. Potentially dangerous. Stay within the track limits.
9. Don't ram other competitors. Drive fast, and do your overtaking in a manner that doesn't risk the health and safety of your fellow racers.
Have great race day!
Gary.

Junior Development Program- race day run down Part 1
Due to the situation where I don't have a 2 stroke Junior race kart ready for Emmett at the moment, and that I'm in a Motorsport event myself, Julie and myself won't be able to assist at the upcoming meet.
I'd like to therefore cover these points with you now based off my observations at the last race day. Can all parents please go through them with your child.
1. Could all participants please ensure that you signal your intention to pit by raising your arm after coming out of Carousel, and stay to the RIGHT hand side of the track. I mentioned this at the last meet, but it is still not being done by all competitors. Let's avoid a major accident.
2. When exiting the circuit and entering the in-grid, please slow down to walking pace. Also, DO NOT drive hard out of the pits, or zig zag to warm up tyres on the out-grid. There are other competitors and officials in those areas- think safety.
3. Do not drive onto the weighing scales. Stop your kart, exit, and push it onto the scales. Penalties apply.
4. I'm not 100% convinced that all competitors fully know their flag meanings. Please go through them with your child frequently to ensure they fully understand them.
