The boys fought through a tough and nail-biting match, battling back from 3–1 down to level the score at 4–4! 💪🔥

They pushed themselves to the absolute max and showed incredible determination to make the comeback.

Unfortunately, the boys were defeated 5–4 by Stags FC AAM White GoulburnstagsFC in a thrilling finish. Despite the result, the boys played phenomenally and should be incredibly proud of their effort! 👏👏

Our All Abilities coaches put together a social story about soccer explaining how to play, etiquette and everything in between. Please ensure that you and your child are up to date with this. If helpful, your young person may even benefit from having a read each week.

Although it is focussed on our amazing all abilities team, some of these pages could be helpful for miniroos, teens or even adults who are learning about the game.

⚽️ Meet the STFA Football Community ⚽️

Welcome to the next in our series to introduce you to our STFA Board, Committee and Community!

Today we hear from Nick Ritchie, who you all know from out on the pitch, but who also helps any way possible behind the scenes to support STFA, particularly our emerging referees!

⚽️ What is your role within STFA?

My role is Southern Tablelands Referees Branch Coach, Board Member and Junior Vice President.

* Adding in here as Nick was very quiet about it! Nick’s role as Referee Coach sees him support and mentor our Referee’s and Game Leaders. Together with Jason and Jake they have built the referee team to over 60 officials and growing every season due to its fun and supportive team culture!

⚽️ How long have you been involved with STFA?

This is my 5th year

⚽️ How did you become involved?

When I moved to Goulburn, I wanted to continue refereeing as I was getting bored.

I reached out to FNSW to see what associations were around and was asked with my experience if I would like to start a new referee branch after I did the same thing setting up Hills Football.

I have been reffing for 25 years this year, longer than many of our referees have been alive

⚽️ Do you wear any other hats within the local football community?

I do. I help in the canteen, I assist with the field prep, miniroo ref coach, bathroom cleaner, tribunal member, answer questions about referee decisions, run courses and a sounding board for anyone that wants to talk.

I also seek sponsorship for the referees and STFA.

⚽️ What is your favourite part about being involved in STFA?

The friendships, watching the kids develop their skills and most of all, watching the referees grow, develop and achieve their goals!

⚽️ What would you just say to anyone who’s thinking about becoming involved and volunteering with STFA?

Give it a go! It is a rewarding thing to do, we have our days but we all love seeing the many smiling faces every weekend.

Thanks Nick for taking the time to answer our questions, for everything you do for STFA and Southern Tablelands Referees, and for always giving the best photo bombs 🤣 📸 💣
