Yep! I remember it fondly π
The brown paper lunch order might be one of the most uniquely Australian school traditions ever invented.
You'd hand over a crumpled paper bag with your name, class and order written on it in the morning, then spend the next four hours thinking about absolutely nothing except when your lunch was coming.
And somehow the canteen food always felt better than food from home. Pizza Singles, meat pies, Big Ms, sausage rolls, frozen lasagne squares, chocolate donuts. Most of it was objectively average, but on lunch order day it felt like fine dining.
The best part was hearing your name called out. For one brief moment you weren't just another kid in class. You were the bloke whose hot pie had arrived.
