Finals this weekend brought to you by Intagolf

Results from the first week of Intagolf senior finals.

The 2s get their finals campaign off to a great start with an 8-5 win over Falcons. Archer started us off on the mound and controlled the game well, until nearing his pitch count. Leigh got us out of a bases loaded pickle, and then Ethan finished off the last two innings in style earning the win. Brad and Haby were electric together in the lineup combining for 7 RBIs between them. The team now goes through to the grand final, earning themselves a week off.

Meanwhile down at Elphinstone, our 4s would face an uphill battle against Rangers with only 8 players, the first time being short-staffed this season. Phoebe put up a gallant effort with the ball, but we struggled to string hits together and get on base. The season comes to an end with a 19-0 loss. Lyndal has done a great job leading this team for the season. The playing group has markedly advanced, and the team has played some genuinely exciting and inspiring games throughout the season, earning themselves a handful of wins.

The 3s finished the day at Quarry Hill in front of a strong support base. This would be the venue's final match for the season. Nigel controlled the game as per usual, pitching a convincing game allowing just one run. He was supported by brick-wall defense though, with Leigh, Luke and Dave providing highlights in the field, including a remarkable 8-3 assist from Dave. Todd and Luke were fantastic with the bats, helping East put together 10 runs. The 10-1 win over Scots pushes the team through to the elimination final against Dodgers this week in Strathfieldsaye.

Results for week 2 of junior finals ⚾⚾⚾

The 17s were up at the crack of dawn ready for a rare game. Sioeli started the game for us, and was pitching an absolute masterpiece. East jumped out to a 2-0 lead early. But a few fielding mishaps gave Falcons the opportunity to come back into the game and ended up taking the win 6-3. Some batting highlights came from Paddy, Indi and Ethan who gave the crowd lots to cheer about. It was a shame the 17s' season was plagued with washouts, byes and even a fog-out. But the team should be very proud of how they played and challenged their opponents. Well done guys 🩵🩵🩵

The 15s had a back-and-forth tussle against Dodgers. Russell started the game for us and was throwing heat. Jasmine provided a big highlight mid game with a long shot to deep left field. Bailey came in to relieve Russ, and held the visitors to a run. Down by one in the bottom of the last, a couple of walks gave us something to work with. Georgia grounded out to third, but scored the tying run. Then who else but big Russ, who put a ground ball in play, legged it out to first and hit in the walk off run. East win 7-6 and book their ticket in the grand final next week against Rangers/Scots.

Condolences to the Jack Family

The Bendigo Baseball Association extends its deepest condolences to the Jack family on the passing of Russell Jack.

Russell was a proud and respected Hall of Famer of the Bendigo Baseball Association, leaving a lasting legacy within our baseball community.

Our thoughts are with Russell’s family, friends and all those who knew him during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Russell. ⚾️

Yesterday Trent took the field for the 300th time, up against some good mates of his at Falcons Baseball Club.

Our Intagolf Div 2 team ended up taking the win 16-3, with Trent playing exceptionally well 🙌⚾🩵
