12 July 2026
No regular Sunday session at Runaway Bay last week... but no worries, our Pickleball addiction still got its weekly fix! 😂🏓
A huge thank you to Andrew & Jane for organising a special session at Griffith University. We couldn't let one Sunday go by without hearing that sweet "pop pop" sound!
Special thanks to Nina, Mia, Nate and Jessie for arriving early to set up all the nets. We all discovered that setting up pickleball nets is actually another sport on its own—tricky, challenging, and definitely a team effort! 😆
Welcome back, Leanna! She came to support her good mate Jane and also got to meet her new Korean friend Jessie! It's always great to see new friendships forming through pickleball! ❤️
A warm welcome to first-timer Patrick. He played so well that we almost didn't believe he was new! Maybe JJ gave him some secret coaching before he showed up. 🤔😂
And thank you to all our regular Gangsters with Paddles for another fantastic Sunday.
As always, PickleGang doesn't fight over skills—we compete over who laughs the loudest. ❤️🏓
See you all next Sunday for more "pop pop pop", more laughs, and probably a few more balls to pick up! 😄

🎉 Big thanks to everyone who came to our Sunday (5 July)evening session! 🏓💚
The sky looked angry all afternoon, but luckily it knew we had pickleball to play. No rain! 😄🌥️
We had a last-minute surprise when 3 King of Court players couldn't make it. Lucky we still had enough players for a fun comp session. 😅
A big welcome to our 4 first-timers! Jessie did a great job bringing 3 handsome young men—Khan, Sirjin and Sora. A special shout-out to Khan, who spent his school holidays playing pickleball with his mum, Jessie. What a good son! ❤️
JJ also brought her lovely young friend Josie to try pickleball. School holidays are the perfect time to let the kids run around and chase a plastic ball! 😂
Sorry I didn't get much time to chat with our new players. When people pulled out at the last minute, Uncle had to put down the organiser hat and become a player! 😆
Welcome back, Steven, with your new paddle! You're already improving in just your second session. Thanks to Andrew for teaching Steven the pickleball basics. Great job! 👏
And finally, thank you to all our regular players. You are the reason our Sunday sessions are always full of energy, laughter, great games and good vibes.
See you all next Sunday... and hopefully the weather is in a better mood again! 😄🏓

No drama on Sunday (28June) night! 😆
✅ No rain
✅ No lights going out
✅ No tennis tournament taking over our courts
Just pure pickleball fun!
Big thanks to Eddie for the last-minute sign-up to rescue the final battle and give us a perfect 12 players on 3 courts. 👏
Welcome back, Lorenzo Great to have you back after a while, and it looked like you never left. Still playing so well! 💪
After 8 rounds of battle, QSan claimed the 👑 King/Queen title by staying on King Court for the whole session! Rumour has it Andrew was just being nice and giving everyone else a chance. 😂
Special kudos to Penny ! Only her second time playing, but she chased every ball like her life depended on it and never gave up. That's the spirit! 💪
A massive thank you to JJ — our favourite and always welcome player, and our professional photographer! 📸🏓 Thanks for capturing so many awesome moments and making everyone look like pickleball champions. We all appreciate your great photos!
See you all at the next King of the Court! 🔥

🌅 Sunday ( 15 June 26) Pickleball Recap 🎾
22 players signed up, but 18 made it at the last minute. That meant our King of the Court Challenge had to be postponed—an odd number of players makes it a little tricky!
Running a pickleball group isn't always easy. You plan ahead, but the final numbers are always a surprise. That's all part of the fun of hosting!
Instead, we switched to a round robin. It was our first time using A, B, C... instead of names, and let's just say there was plenty of "Who's A?" and "Where's my partner?" 🤣. Between finding partners and figuring out whose turn it was, we didn't quite finish the schedule.
But the important part? Everyone had a great time. Everyone partnered with different players, faced different opponents, and enjoyed plenty of good rallies.
The sunset was absolutely stunning. A few players even paused mid-session to snap photos of the beautiful twilight sky. 🌅📸
As always, it was an evening filled with sweat, laughter, great rallies, and happy smiles. Thanks to everyone who came along—we'll be back for more next Sunday!

👑 Why "King of the Court"?
Just to clear something up… King of the Court is NOT about crowning Andrew as the best player in our group! 😄
It's simply a fun game format where everyone gets the chance to climb the courts, play against different players, and challenge ourselves against stronger opponents. The real goal is to learn, improve, and have fun together.
We jokingly call Andrew the "King" because he's one of our stronger players at the moment—not because he's above anyone else.
What makes his story inspiring is that Andrew only took up pickleball not long ago, just like many of us. Even in his 50s, he has shown that age is no barrier to learning and improving. Through patience, smart play, and a willingness to keep learning, he's developed into a very strong player.
Even better, Andrew is always happy to share what he's learned. He freely offers tips, encourages others, and helps everyone improve together.
So the "King" isn't someone to worship—he's a reminder of what we can all become with the right attitude. We're not just playing against a king; we're learning from a great role model.
Who knows? With enough practice, the next King (or Queen) of the Court could be you! 👑🏓😄
