Are you skipping your pre-workout snack?

If you're heading into training feeling flat, low on energy, struggling to push yourself, or finding your workouts aren't improving, your body might simply need more fuel.

A pre-workout snack can help:
✔ Increase energy levels during training
✔ Improve performance and endurance
✔ Support strength and power output
✔ Help you stay focused throughout your session
✔ Reduce the likelihood of hitting an energy slump mid-workout

Without adequate fuel, you may notice:
• Lower energy levels
• Reduced training performance
• Feeling weak or fatigued sooner
• Poor concentration during workouts
• Slower recovery afterwards

Think of your body like a car. If you expect it to perform well, it needs fuel in the tank.

The goal isn't to eat a huge meal before training. Even a simple snack containing carbohydrates, and sometimes protein depending on timing, can make a noticeable difference.

If you've been feeling like your training isn't matching your effort, it might be worth looking at what you're eating before your workout.

What you do repeatedly is what shapes your outcome. Not what you do occasionally.

Results aren’t built from perfection, they’re built from consistency.

Small habits, done often, always win in the long run.

A day on a plate example🍽️

I think people are often surprised by how simple my meals actually are.

No fancy recipes.
No detoxes.
No "healthy" foods that taste like cardboard.

Just regular meals that help me feel good, keep me satisfied, and fit into my lifestyle.

What you see here is a realistic day of eating. Some days I eat more, some days I eat less. Some days are full of home-cooked meals, and other days involve convenience foods because life gets busy.

That's the beauty of sustainable nutrition.

It doesn't require perfection. It requires flexibility.

Because the goal isn't to eat perfectly for a few weeks.
The goal is to find a way of eating that still works for you six months, twelve months, and five years from now.

Food should support your life, not become your life.

The excitement and motivation that came with a fresh start to the year can start to wear off. Life gets busy, routines become harder to stick to, the weather cools down, and suddenly those goals you were so focused on in January feel a little further away.

But here's your reminder:

You do not need to start over.

You do not need a new Monday, a new month, or a new year to make progress.

Sometimes all you need is a reset.

Take a moment to check in with yourself:
• What's working right now?
• What's no longer serving you?
• What is one small habit you can focus on this week?

Progress isn't built from motivation. It's built from the small actions you continue to take, especially when motivation is low.

The year isn't over, and neither are your goals.

Take a breath, refocus, and keep moving forward. One step at a time is still progress.

Look at this incredible feedback from Coach Kayly's clients 👏

Since joining JFHF, Kayly has been absolutely knocking it out of the park.

What makes this feedback so special isn't just the results. It's the confidence, support, accountability, and sustainable habits being built along the way.

Think you need to eat chicken breast at every meal to hit your protein target? Think again.

Protein can come from a variety of different sources, and 30g of protein doesn't always look the same on your plate.

In this infographic, you'll find 6 different meat options that all provide approximately 30g of protein.

Why does this matter?

Because understanding what protein actually looks like can help you
✔ Stay fuller for longer
✔ Support muscle recovery and maintenance
✔ Make meal planning easier
✔ Add more variety to your diet

The best source of protein is often the one you enjoy and can consistently include in your meals.

Is your digestive system struggling?

Sometimes your body gives you signs long before you realise something isn't quite right.

🚩 Constant bloating, even when you haven't eaten much
🚩 Energy crashes throughout the day
🚩 Feeling uncomfortable or sluggish after meals
🚩 Irregular bathroom habits, whether that's going too often, not enough, or never feeling "regular"
🚩 Feeling like food just doesn't sit well in your body

While occasional digestive symptoms are normal, feeling bloated, uncomfortable, or exhausted every day isn't something you should have to just put up with.

Your gut plays a huge role in digestion, energy levels, nutrient absorption, and overall wellbeing. When it's not functioning optimally, it can impact far more than just your stomach.

The good news? Small changes to your nutrition, hydration, movement, stress management, and eating habits can often make a big difference.

If you've been experiencing any of these signs, it might be time to start paying closer attention to what your body is trying to tell you.

Which of these symptoms do you experience most often?

Good nutrition isn’t just about food… it’s about learning how to live without rules controlling you.

Because when every decision is ruled by restriction, guilt, or “good vs bad” thinking, food stops being simple and starts feeling heavy.

Real progress is learning how to eat in a way that supports your body and your life, without needing to follow rigid rules to feel like you’re doing “well”.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about freedom, consistency, and trust with food again.

🥫 Do nutrition labels leave you feeling confused?

You’re not alone. Most people look at a nutrition panel and aren’t really sure what matters most.

Here’s a simple breakdown 👇🏼

Serving Size
This is where things often get confusing. All the numbers on the label are based on this amount. If you eat double the serving size, you’ll need to double everything listed too.

Calories (Energy)
This tells you how much energy is in one serving. If your goal is fat loss, this is one of the key numbers to be aware of.

Protein
Protein helps keep you fuller for longer, supports muscle maintenance, and makes it easier to stay on track with your goals.

Carbohydrates
Carbs are your body’s preferred energy source. Not something to fear, just something to understand.

Fats
Fats are important for hormones, health, and satiety. The goal isn’t to avoid them, but to be mindful of portions as they’re more calorie-dense.

Sodium
Worth keeping an eye on if you’re having a lot of processed foods.

The biggest mistake I see? Focusing on the front of the packet instead of the nutrition panel.

Learning to read a label is one of the easiest ways to make more informed food choices without cutting out the foods you love.

Drop a 🙋🏼‍♀️ if nutrition labels have ever confused you!

👀 Eyeing it vs ⚖️ weighing it

One of the biggest reasons people struggle to see progress in a fat loss phase is because they're unknowingly eating more than they think.

A tablespoon of peanut butter becomes two.
A serve of rice becomes one and a half.
A handful of nuts becomes three.

These small differences might not seem like much, but they can add up quickly over the course of a day.

You don't need to weigh your food forever, but spending a few weeks learning what portions actually look like can be a real game changer for your results.

Accuracy creates awareness, and awareness creates progress. 💪🏼
