“Rhythm Is Our Business” - Andrew Dickeson and Nicki Parrott

When drummer Andrew Dickeson and bassist/vocalist Nicki Parrott join forces things are guaranteed to get swingin’!

With a friendship and musical history going back over 40 years Andrew and Nicki are the ultimate rhythm section - it simply doesn’t get any better.

Andrew has been one of Australia’s most in demand jazz drummers for years. He has a growing international career, as well as leading the Blue Rhythm Band - a firm favourite amongst dancers.

Nicki has been a first-call bassist in New York City for decades and is also a wonderfully engaging singer. She is in constant demand here and overseas.

They will be joined by the magic combination of pianist Peter Locke and trumpeter Todd Hardy.

They’ll be performing classic swing numbers and jazz standards - everything to get you on the dance floor and keep you there!

After hearing so much great feedback from the community, we’ve decided to add a Balboa Mix & Match to this year’s festival. Thank you to everyone who voted and shared their thoughts—it really helped shape the event.

We’re still fine-tuning the Balboa competition format and judging, taking on board some of the fantastic ideas that came out of the discussion. We hope to bring you a format that’s fun, fair and showcases great social Balboa.

We anticipate running heats for all competitions; however, this will be subject to registration numbers.

Whether you’re dancing with your favourite partner in Strictly or meeting someone new in Mix & Match, we can’t wait to see everyone out on the floor.
