Late last night, I received a message from Alison, the wife of a gentleman we met during last year’s North Queensland Thunderbolt Run.
I immediately remembered him.
During the event, he had approached me and asked if he could buy a Thunderbolt Run cap. At the time, we didn’t have any merchandise for sale, so I simply took one of our own caps and gave it to him.
It was a small gesture. Something most people would probably think little of.
In her message, Alison shared with me that her husband had sadly passed away. She then asked where we would be this morning before heading off to our next destination because she wanted to come and personally thank me.
She told me how much that Thunderbolt Run cap had meant to him.
This morning, Alison joined us. We shared stories, took some photos together, and she showed us the cap that her husband had treasured. Sitting proudly in her car was a blue ribbon and the cap that had travelled with him, both carrying memories that meant far more than I could have ever imagined.
Before sharing this story, I asked Alison if she would be comfortable with me telling it to our Thunderbolt Run community. She graciously said yes because she wanted people to understand just how much that simple gesture had meant to her husband.
Standing there this morning surrounded by our Thunderbolt Run family, I was reminded once again that what we do has never really been about the cars.
Yes, we love the supercars.
Yes, we love the roads, the track days, the luxury hotels and the incredible destinations.
But the real magic has always been the people.
The friendships.
The memories.
The conversations.
The bonds that are built along the way.
A simple cap became far more than merchandise. It became a treasured memory.
A stranger became part of our community.
And today, Alison became part of our Thunderbolt Run family too.
Moments like this remind me why we do what we do. Not because of the cars we drive, but because of the lives we touch and the connections we make along the way.
I’d love to ask a question…
Has a small act of kindness ever left a lasting impact on your life?
Please share your story below. ❤️

Early mornings. Long days. Unforgettable adventures.
While most people are still asleep, we’re already on the road.
Today marks the beginning of our pilgrimage north, departing Brisbane and making our way to Mackay before continuing on to Townsville to welcome our entrants for the 2026 North Queensland Thunderbolt Run.
Photos like this remind us why we do it. The calm before the storm. A quiet moment by the water before thousands of kilometres are driven, venues are checked, routes are verified, convoy logistics are coordinated, and every last detail is fine-tuned.
What many people see is the finished product — the supercars, the luxury hotels, the track days, the incredible roads and the lifelong memories.
What they don’t always see are the early starts, the planning, the preparation, and the countless hours behind the scenes that make it all possible.
Tomorrow the engines fire into life as we kick things off with a track day before heading further north towards Cairns, where another incredible Thunderbolt Run adventure awaits.
And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

1966, Ford shocked the motorsport world and beat Ferrari four years in a row.
Fast forward to 2026, and history is about to repeat itself… just with a different badge.
This time it’s Porsche taking on Ferrari.
The Porsche faithful will tell you precision wins races.
The Ferrari faithful will tell you passion beats everything.
We’re not taking sides…
Well, maybe a little. 😏
So let’s settle it.
🏁 Porsche or Ferrari?

Before heading back home, we had the pleasure of catching up with a fantastic group of enthusiasts in Double Bay, Sydney, for a Sunday morning breakfast and drive.
The calibre of both the people and the vehicles was truly next level. From incredible machinery to genuine conversations, it was another reminder that no matter where Thunderbolt Run travels, the passion for cars and the friendships they create bring like-minded people together.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to catching up again soon and continuing to build the Thunderbolt Run community in Sydney.

When people see Thunderbolt Run, they often see the supercars, the incredible roads, and the destinations.
What they don't always see is this.
A group of people sitting around a breakfast table, sharing stories, laughing, making new friendships, and creating memories together.
Today was our first Sydney event, and what made me proud wasn't the cars. It was seeing the exact same community spirit that has made Thunderbolt Run so special in Queensland.
No matter where we go, the passion remains the same.
A passion for adventure.A passion for connection.A passion for bringing good people together.
From day one, Thunderbolt Run was never built to be about horsepower, status, or ego. It was built around people. Creating experiences that inspire, friendships that last, and a community where everyone feels they belong.
As the founder, seeing complete strangers arrive in the morning and leave as friends will always be my favourite part of what we do.
Looking forward to our second Sydney Supercar Driver, Saturday 4th of July different route, same heart.
Sydney, thank you for welcoming us so warmly.
This is only the beginning.
