THE FINAL STAGE OF RECONNAISSANCE

4 days. Hundreds of kilometres. Countless corners, mountain passes and some of the most incredible tarmac we’ve ever driven.

Today marks Day 4 and the final stage of our behind-the-scenes reconnaissance for Thunderbolt Run Tasmania – The Devil’s Playground.

Over the past 4 days, we’ve driven the roads, checked every route, experienced the accommodation, visited the restaurants and wineries, and worked through every detail that will make this event worthy of the Thunderbolt Run stamp of approval.

From Freycinet Lodge, to The Tasman in Salamanca, to Cradle Mountain Lodge — every overnight stay has been carefully selected.

From award-winning restaurants and wineries at lunch, to decadent dining at night and buffet breakfasts to start the day — every part of the experience has a purpose.

But at the heart of The Devil’s Playground is the driving.

The mountain passes.
The endless twists and turns.
The sweeping tarmac.
And kilometre after kilometre of roads that feel like they were built for performance cars.

After 4 days behind the wheel, we can confidently say…

Devil’s Playground

Our Tassie Devil’s Playground reconnaissance was full intensity from the moment we fired up.

Morning stop, lunch break, it didn’t matter.

Every single section demanded focus.

Relentless corners, no let up, every turn a driver’s corner. It just never stops.

Pulling into the stunning Cradle Mountain Lodge at the end of all that felt like magic tucked away in the wilderness.

And despite the rain, the photos are still epic. Raw, unfiltered, the real deal.
