🦈 PARKWOOD SHARKS — WE DID IT.
I don’t really know how else to describe this past week other than HELL WEEK.
Because sometimes the preparation is every bit as hard, exhausting and relentless as the event itself.
It started Tuesday, with those who showed up to our Club meeting to hear the plan, understand the why and get their heads around what we were about to take on.
Then came Thursday night.
The working bee. The cleaning. The clearing. The lifting. The sorting. The setting up. The jobs that nobody sees when they arrive on game day — but without them, game day simply doesn’t happen.
Then Friday night rolled around.
And then Saturday.
All. Day. Saturday.
And somehow, after all of that… Saturday night too.
Our goal for this finals series was pretty simple: we wanted Parkwood Sharks to SHINE.
We wanted every person who walked through our gates to feel our Sharkies culture.
We wanted people to feel welcomed.
We wanted our grounds to be safe.
We wanted our clubhouse to look like the beautiful home we know she is.
And we wanted everyone who came through Parkwood to enjoy some bloody good, high-calibre finals footy.
And Sharkies… WE DID IT.
Our beautiful clubhouse was ready and she was GLEAMING.
There were orange vests for days across those fields.
There were Sharkies proudly wearing our colours, welcoming people through the gates.
There were volunteers noticing the visitor who looked a little lost and asking, “Can I help you?”
There were people picking up rubbish, filling fridges, wiping tables, working the canteen, manning gates, checking sheds, running sidelines, helping officials, keeping people safe and doing a thousand little things nobody will ever know happened.
And yes, there were hiccups. Of course there were.
But what our visitors saw was a CLUB THAT SHOWED UP.
And when the eyes were heavy from exhaustion…
When the heads and necks were sore from me constantly saying “EYES UP! HEADS ON A SWIVEL!” 😂
When the feet were pounding and swollen from roaming those fields…
When the bodies were overheating in that canteen…
When you were running purely on caffeine, adrenaline and Sharkies pride…
I hope you stopped for just one second and realised what we were achieving together.
Because the feedback from this weekend has been astounding.
The messages we’ve received are only a small snippet. They don’t include the phone calls, the conversations, the comments made in passing or the people who simply stopped to tell us how impressed they were.
And every single one of those compliments belongs to YOU.
To every person who gave us an hour.
To every person who gave us a night.
To those who gave us their entire weekend.
To the people who weren’t asked but saw something that needed doing and just did it.
To those who were absolutely exhausted but stayed for one more job.
Thank you.
I don’t know the exact old saying… because this week proved something slightly different:
MANY HANDS DIDN’T MAKE LIGHT WORK.
It was still blimmen hard work. 😂
But many hands made the impossible possible.
And together, we pulled it off.
So sit back for a minute and let yourself be proud.
WE PREPARED.
WE SHOWED UP.
WE SHONE.
Our Club is absolutely glowing right now.
And every single one of you who gave your time Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday put a little bit of that shine there.
We can all bleed blue together knowing that when Parkwood Sharks needed its people…
OUR PEOPLE SHOWED UP.
Be proud, Sharkies.
WE DID IT. WE ACTUALLY DID IT. 🦈💙🤍🖤

PARKWOOD SHARKS — A CLUB THAT SHOWS UP
This week reminded us what a footy club is really about.
It wasn’t just the finals, the games or what happened on the field.
It was the hundreds of little jobs happening around it.
And this week…
OUR PEOPLE SHOWED UP. 💙
You manned gates.
Picked up rubbish.
Collected cans.
Refilled toilet paper.
Wiped tables.
Mopped spills.
Chased footies.
Covered duty.
Managed grounds.
Refilled fridges.
Called hot chips.
Checked sheds.
Ran messages.
Helped with first aid.
Kept a timer.
Kept the score.
Was the DJ or MC.
Did a lunch run.
Ran to the shops for groceries.
Went to pick up orders from suppliers.
And over and over again, you simply asked:
“What needs doing next?”
“How can I help?”
Some gave an hour.
Some gave an entire day.
Some gave every ounce they had left.
EVERY. SINGLE. BIT. MATTERED.
There wasn’t always applause.
Sometimes nobody even knew you did it.
But WE know.
You didn’t just volunteer.
YOU MADE THIS WEEK POSSIBLE.
That is community.
That is a footy club.
That is what showing up looks like.
And this week, Parkwood Sharks showed exactly why we are…
🦈 SMALL BUT MIGHTY. 💙🤍🖤
THANK YOU, SHARKIES.

To everyone who has shown up, stepped in, lifted, carried, cleaned, packed, served, organised, problem-solved and simply asked, “What can I do?” — thank you. What has been achieved over the past two nights was no small feat. In fact, it was MAMMOTH. It took an incredible amount of work, countless hands and a whole lot of heart to get our grounds and Clubhouse ready to showcase Parkwood Sharks amongst finals series.
Take a moment to look around and be proud of what we have achieved together this week.
Every late finish, every job ticked off, every extra set of hands and every person who gave up their time has contributed to something bigger than themselves. This is what a Club looks like when its people rally around it. This is what Small But Mighty really means.
And while we should absolutely enjoy this moment and recognise just how much we’ve accomplished, we aren’t done yet. Now it’s time to carry that same energy, pride and teamwork into tomorrow and show every visitor and every team who walks through our gates exactly what Parkwood Sharks is all about. 💙🤍🖤

🦈 SHARKS, WE NEED ALL HANDS ON DECK TONIGHT! 🦈
With no training tonight, we’d love to see as many of our Sharks families as possible down at the Club to help us tackle a working bee ahead of a massive Finals weekend.
We’ve got a list a mile long, but with every extra set of hands, we’ll have it knocked over in no time. 💪
Bring the kids down, let them run around, play and enjoy their Club on what would normally be a training night, while we roll up our sleeves and get stuck in.
This weekend we’ll be welcoming plenty of visitors through our gates, and we want to make sure our clubhouse and grounds are looking their absolute best. This is our home, and it’s time to make her absolutely shine and put her proudly on display. 💙
Whether you can give us the whole evening or just 30 minutes, every ounce of help counts.
Many hands really do make light work — and when our Sharks community comes together, there’s not much we can’t get done.
🦈💙 See you at the Club tonight, Sharks!

💙 This Club has had you and your family all season 💙
Now it’s time to show up for the Club.
Finals week doesn’t just happen. The fields don’t prepare themselves, the clubhouse doesn’t organise itself, and the work doesn’t magically get done by “someone else.”
The work never stops — and we need everyone.
Every set of hands matters. Every person who turns up makes the load lighter. Every family that gets involved helps make this week and finals weekend the success our players deserve.
Please don’t assume others will take care of it.
Be there. Get involved. Help your Club.
We’ve stood together all season — now we finish it together.
🦈 ONE CLUB. ONE TEAM. ONE BIG WEEK.
You have mail.

A huge congratulations to our Parkwood Sharks U13s, who finished an outstanding 3rd overall and have earned their place in the 2026 Finals Series! 🦈💙
This Saturday, they’ll take on 2nd-placed Currumbin Eagles at Ormeau, with everything on the line as they fight to keep their season alive.
They are proudly the only Parkwood International team in 2026 to make it through to the Finals Series, which is an incredible achievement for the players, coaches and everyone who has supported them throughout the year.
When you see the boys around the Clubhouse this week, make sure you congratulate them, get behind them and wish them the very best of luck for Saturday.
Let’s go Sharks — bring it home! 🦈🏉

🚨 SHARKIES — THIS IS A CALL OUT. WE NEED YOU. 🚨
This Friday night and all day Saturday, our club is hosting the Finals Series.
We will be running DUAL FIELDS across the this coming Friday and Saturday, and Saturday is our biggest opportunity to shine.
Every game will be FINALS FOOTY. Friday night showcasing Under 15s and Under 16s for positional playoffs. Then Saturday is Division 1 football. All day. High calibre. High intensity. Finals footy from morning until night.
That is a HUGE day of football and right now, we simply DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH HELPERS TO GET THROUGH IT.
This isn’t a casual “if anyone is free” volunteer post. This is a genuine call for help.
To every one of our members.
To our current players.
To the players who have worn our colours in years gone by.
To the mums and dads.
To the aunties and uncles.
To the grandparents who might have one spare hour.
To anyone who has ever called this Club their club…
WE NEED YOU TO COME THROUGH. 🦈
There are plenty of gaps to fill before and throughout the day, but our biggest and most desperate need is Saturday.
☕️ Barrista
🍺 Bartender
🍔 Canteen staff
🦺 Duty Officials
💵 Entry gate
🙋🏽♀️ Please check your calendars and put your hand up if you can help out.
If you’re not playing this weekend but you’re part of this club — come down and give us an hour.
If you’re a past player and haven’t been around for a while — this is the weekend we need you back.
One hour. That’s what we’re asking.
Because if enough people give one hour, nobody has to give twelve.
Saturday is our opportunity to showcase our Club to the wider football community. The football on the fields will be outstanding.
🙋♀️🙋♂️ PUT YOUR HAND UP. COMMENT BELOW. MESSAGE US. TELL US WHEN YOU CAN HELP.
Friday night. Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon. But most importantly SATURDAY EVENING.
Our Club needs its people this weekend.
Sharkies, it’s time to come through. 💙🦈
