A big thank you to Councillor Hermann Vorster for taking the time to visit us at the Gold Coast Masters Rowers shed on Saturday and celebrate the exciting news that we have been awarded funding through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).

This generous grant will enable us to purchase a new women's racing double scull and a full set of racing oars, providing more opportunities for our members to train, compete and enjoy the sport of rowing.

As a community-based club operating from the beautiful Lake Orr precinct, we are passionate about helping people of all ages and abilities embrace an active and healthy lifestyle. Rowing is about much more than sport – it's about bringing people together, building friendships, supporting physical and mental wellbeing, and creating a welcoming environment where everyone can thrive.

The facilities at Sports House, Lake Orr provide an incredible opportunity for our community to connect with nature, stay active and enjoy the many benefits that rowing offers. This new boat will help us continue to grow participation and support our members for years to come.

Thank you again to Councillor Vorster and the Gambling Community Benefit Fund for investing in community sport and helping clubs like ours continue to make a positive difference on the Gold Coast.

What starts as a simple “give it a go” often becomes a lifelong passion.
For Gold Coast Master Rowers members Lea and Jolien, rowing has delivered friendship, challenge, community and countless sunrises on the water.
Following their recent Bells of Queensland award win, we spoke to the pair about their rowing journey, what motivates them to keep pushing forward, and why it’s never too late to start, or return to the sport.

Saturday delivered. After a week of rain, the water was glassy and the skies cleared this morning just in time for our Saturday club row. Worth the wait.
