How does Clinical/Therapeutic Pilates help people with instability in joints?
Therapeutic Pilates practitioners are able to help people perform the Pilates exercises with more support and scaffolding, which allows people who are in need of that attention gradually strengthen and build their pilates practice even if they are challenged by a condition, permanent or temporary injury and through any cause that means instability is a concern.
Here is just some of the ways that people can be supported in a Therapeutic Pilates setting.

Move with
Osteoporosis, Osteopenia and strong bones.
Pilates is not usually known for having weights/resistances heavy enough to assist with helping osteoporosis, osteopenia and bone strength. However, this who do incorporate weights into their instruction can be of benefit.
Ensuring that you are gradually building up strength and resistances is important for strong bones. And having access to these resistances while doing an exercise you enjoy is also important.
Plus Pilates also offers the ability to build strength using resistance in ways that other less dynamic exercises do.
Knee injury recovery and post reconstruction exercises.
Clinical Pilates is a fantastic way to continue healing your knees recover range and strength after your physio sessions have ended.
You will still need to build strength, endurance, mobility, balance and control while relying on the muscles that support knee movement. This is particularly important as we age so that we are still able to lead free and independent lives.
The reformer is just one apparatus we use in a Clinical studio to help people post injury and reconstruction.
