Cardiologist and Ballarat update!
Geelong 70.3 result:
4:40:16 22nd AG 209th OV
Swim: 31:06 1:38/100m
Knew I wasn’t going to PB so focused on getting as close to the 30 min mark without pushing too hard. Just wanted to finish it so I could focus on the ride and run
Bike: 2:32:19 35.45km/hr
Trisuit zip broke while taking off my wetsuit and wouldn’t budge, so lost a bit of time in transition. The bike felt like a similar effort to IMWA, not knowing how hard I could push without blowing up I used the first lap to get a better idea of the course. On the second lap I was able to push harder on the flat sections and managed to find a few others pushing at a similar effort. Did lose half a bottle of nutrition after the lid came off while I was drinking it! Heart rate wasn’t too high but legs probably couldn’t have pushed much harder. Felt the best I have coming into transition. Didn’t feel dizzy or disoriented.
Run: 1:29:17 4:14min/km
Happy with my transition and pulled back on the run effort the first 5k’s as I didn’t need another blow up like in WA. Pace went all the way out to 4:42. Managed to negative split the second half and ran my quickest 5k in the last 5k’s. Was really happy with my fitness on the run and paced it well. Gives me some confidence before the Ballarat marathon next month.
Overall:
The swim is the swim. Happy with the bike and to make it through unscathed after only one outdoor ride this year in training. Run was by far the best and although not my best result I gain a lot more confidence from that then if I had run quicker and blown up.

Geelong 70.3 this time next week!
Definitely not at my peak fitness since the end of last year but looking forward to be racing again. Always important to set an achievable level of expectations while still trying to reach for pb’s, for me next week it will all be about effort.
While I’m not at the same level of fitness compared to my last two races, if I bring a strong mindset and effort anything can happen on race day!

This time tomorrow will be two years since I ran my first ever marathon! Arguably the hardest race I’ve ever done and what got the ball rolling with Mojo
Few tips for anyone racing tomorrow’s Robe Run:
Your first few kilometres should be your slowest, you can’t set a new personal best in this part of the race but you can definitely make it a lot harder.
Focus on getting into a rhythm both with pace and breathing. Can help to lower your heart rate and take your mind off running
Finally smile when you cross the finish line. Took me far too long to realise this but no matter how much pain your in the videos and photos will be worth it
If anyone has any questions about tomorrow’s run let me know via the comments or DM’s. Good luck!
