Important update regarding Broadway Gym membership payments

Hi everyone,

I want to apologise for the confusion and frustration caused by membership payments that have continued after the gym closed.

On 18 August, I instructed our billing provider, Clubfit, in writing to stop all direct debits immediately. Clubfit confirmed that instruction had been received and that our Club Manager had been turned off.

Unfortunately, despite that confirmation, another billing batch may have been processed on 19 August.

I understand how this looks from a member’s perspective, particularly at a time when the gym has already been forced to close. I want to assure you that I did not intentionally continue charging members after the closure.

I am now working through the affected transactions and will deal with them individually so that incorrect payments can be properly identified and resolved.

If you were charged after the gym closed, please email [email protected] with:

Your full name
The date of the transaction
The amount charged

If you have already requested a reversal or chargeback through your bank, please also let me know so that a duplicate refund is not processed.

I am very sorry that members have had to deal with this on top of the closure itself. I appreciate your patience while I work through the affected accounts.

Important Update – Broadway Gym

Hi everyone,

I’m very sorry to let you know that Broadway Gym will not be reopening.

I want to make one thing clear: this was not my decision to close the gym.

I wanted to continue operating Broadway Gym and did everything I reasonably could to keep the business open while the ongoing dispute with the landlord was being resolved.

Unfortunately, the landlord has now taken possession of the premises, which has forced the gym to close and means I am no longer able to operate Broadway Gym from the premises.

There are still ongoing legal issues between Broadway Gym and the landlord, and I do not want to go into all of those matters in this message. What I do want members to understand is that I did not voluntarily close the business, abandon the gym, or simply decide to walk away.

I wanted Broadway Gym to continue operating.

I know this closure affects many members, particularly those who have trained here for years, and I am genuinely sorry that it has ended this way.

Broadway Gym has been a major part of my life, and I am extremely grateful to everyone who has supported the gym over the years.

IMPORTANT MEMBER UPDATE

Dear Members,

Broadway Gym is currently closed while the matter concerning access to the premises is being resolved.

No membership direct debit payments will be taken while the gym remains closed. Direct debits will remain suspended until the situation is resolved and we are able to provide a further update.

There is no action required from members at this stage.

I understand the disruption and frustration this has caused, and I appreciate your patience while I work through the situation.

I will provide another update as soon as there is further information.
